The UK might be known for its fair share of entertaining dating shows, but for the first time in its television history, BBC came out with a dating show named I Kissed A Boy, specifically for Gay men. Starring Dannii Minogue as Cupid, the series aims to experiment with whether real love can be found after meeting each other for the first time with a kiss.
I Kissed A Boy was first seen on TV on May 14th, 2023. The concept behind the new dating show is similar to what we see in Married At First Sight and Love Island, where potential soulmates are matched by a “relationship expert.” What’s different in this BBC show is that as soon as they meet each other, the pairs have to outright kiss to find out if they’re going to be a true match. As crazy as it sounds, the show also has all of the couples living together to make the series more spicy.
Although things were going well at the beginning, it seems that the various Kiss Off’s and Chemistry Tests have put some relationships in danger. The cast of I Kissed a Boy consists of 10 different gay men who were matched into five couples. After the eliminations, Robert Budzynski was removed from the show. With the upcoming episodes set to introduce new men into the game, things are bound to get more dramatic.
I Kissed A Boy: What Has Happened So Far?
With the hopeful singles meeting up in the presence of Dannii, they were delighted to see that they were paired up with good-looking partners. As soon as the couples had settled in and started to interact with other contestants besides their partners, evidence of new romance was apparent, and a few love triangles were also developing. Ben, 28, who had been paired up with Ollie, 27, questioned his attraction towards his partner and felt that they weren’t right for each other.
The first big task for I Kissed A Boy contestants was to face a Kiss Off, which would show which couple had the best chemistry out of all the members. The Kiss Off did manage to bring out the worst in some couples, but it was nothing compared to what the next task, called the “Chemistry Test,” was able to do. Most of the matched-up couples were experiencing doubt, but luckily Dannii was able to guide them through their dilemmas. Episode 4 was quite eventful as it introduced us to 3 fresh faces, adding more confusion to the Masseria.
Ben, who had been feeling down about his broken relationship, was glad to finally find someone within the house. Gareth, who hails from Kilkeel, talked about his past life, which brought an emotional tone to the episode. Soon after, another Kiss Off was in place to test the couples, and this was followed by a dinner party.
