“Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” read a statement posted on his official Instagram account on December 21. “His 16 years were far too short, but he achieved so much and touched countless lives.”
The statement urged the public to pray for Hudson’s family and friends as they cope with the devastating loss. Meek is survived by his parents, Lani and Derek, and his brother, Tucker.
According to local NBC affiliate WVTM, Meek sustained blunt force trauma after falling from a moving vehicle. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed he passed away 48 hours after being ejected on the 1900 block of Canyon Road near Highway 31. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
Hudson Meek began acting in 2014, with notable credits including The Santa Con, the MacGyver reboot, The School Duel, and Baby Driver. In the 2017 film, he portrayed the younger version of Ansel Elgort’s character, Baby.
J. Pervis Talent Agency, which represented Meek, expressed their grief in a heartfelt Instagram post. “Hudson was an extraordinary young talent whose passion and promise shone brightly in our industry. His loss leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all of us.”
The talent agency emphasized Meek’s positive impact, noting, “Hudson was more than just a talent; he inspired so many with his kindness, enthusiasm, and ability to light up any room. He will always be remembered with great affection.”
Loved ones and friends have been paying tribute on social media. Descendants actress Brenna D’Amico commented, “I am so so sorry. Keeping you all in my prayers.” Hudson’s brother Tucker wrote, “I’m gonna miss you, Hud. Love you, bro.”
A celebration of Hudson’s life will take place on December 28 in Homewood, Alabama. His obituary described him as “confident, quick-witted, and full of life.” Hudson was known for his humor, pranks, and love of making others laugh, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
