Kei Azumi’s manga led to the creation of one of Nippon TV’s best anime from 2021. Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy will be featuring new monsters, friends, and other characters in its second season, which is going to be animated by J.C. Staff Studios instead of season 1’s C2C Studios.
Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy is an Isekai anime that breaks stereotypes of all other shows of this genre. When Isekai comes to mind, anyone would think the character would start by living among pretty heroines from the past era, or at least becoming the hero and saving a past world from danger.
However, Makoto Misumi has a different isekai, where he is transported to a new world to fulfill a pact his parents made with a goddess. Once the goddess looks at him, she thinks he’s too ugly to be a hero and banishes him to the corners of her world. It’s only Tsukuyomi, a moon god, that interferes and gives Makoto enough power to understand others and live freely.
Once in this new world, Makoto tries to become a person capable of helping others while also finding out about his parents’ history and if he would ever be able to get back on earth. Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy’s voice actors include Natsuki Hanae for Makoto, Ayane Sakura for Tomoe, Akari Kito for Mio, and Kenjiro Tsuda for Shiki.
Recap
The first season mostly showcased Makoto adjusting to the new world and how he makes friends despite being from completely different planets. After falling asleep on a random day, Makoto wakes up to find himself in another realm where Moon god Tsukuyomi reveals that his parents were not from Earth.
To start life on planet Earth, Makoto’s mom and dad had made a deal where they would be giving up the thing they love most to the goddess at the time of her need. Since there was a war between humans and demons going on in this goddess’ world, she called Makoto to make him the hero who would enforce her rules.
However, once the goddess looks at Makoto, she’s so disgusted by him that she just banishes him to a faraway land. Tsukuyomi later shows up and gives Makoto the ability to communicate with other people and grants him enough power to make a living in this new world.
After a series of entertaining adventures, Makoto ends up making a lot of friends in this realm. This includes Tomoe, a pretty dragon, Mio, a Black Spider, and many others. The first season ends with the war between Makoto, Sofia, and Mitsurugi, where Makoto just disappears from the scene and opens a shop, whereas the rest of the two decide to take revenge on him soon.
