Steve Dildarian’s animated comedy series titled, Ten Year Old Tom is back with a brand new season, all set to release by the end of June 2023. The show first released its episodes in July 2022 and is said to have been a renewed version of Steve Dildarian’s 2008 released series called The Life & Times of Tim. The show is quite literally the story of a ten-year-old child who tries to navigate life and grow up as decently as possible in the presence of the strange and questionable adults around him.
The show is an animated series for adults and has used the voices of different people to play the characters within the show, including Steve Dildorian as ten-year-old Tom, himself, Byron Bowers as Nelson, Edi Patterson voicing Tom’s mother, Todd Glass as Tom’s school principle, Erik Griffin as Tom’s school coach, and so many other who have been cast in supporting roles and some who appear as guests in the show.
The animation used in the show is not all perfectly designed. Instead, it gives off the vibe of hand-drawn characters and backgrounds. The imperfect scribbled drawing and animation strangely add nostalgic energy to the show, which is appreciated by the audience. Clearly, more attention has been paid to the writing and humor used within the show than just perfecting the animation.
Ten-Year-Old Tom Season 2: The Plot
Tom, the ten-year-old boy, continues to navigate through life, all the while expressing the bewilderment that he feels when he looks at the adults and finds them ridiculously lost and weird. We get to see adult life from the lens of a ten-year-old, and it almost helps us realize how pathetic and off the track we are. Each episode is different from the previous one, and each episode manages to find the funny in every disastrous situation.
The irony remains that though Tom has adults around him, all willing to give him advice and guide him, in most situations than not, it is Tom who seems like the adult. He has problematic parents who seem ready to sue or get sued, a school bus driver who is shady enough to get involved in drug dealing, and school staff and teachers who just do not seem to have the right intentions with kids in their hands.
In this second season, Tom is seen moving on to a new phase of his life where he finds his first crush, drinks alcohol, gets drunk for the first time, and a lot more, all while he is around adults who seem to be of no help. The show’s humor continues to be on point, and its entertaining cast and stories will all be back very soon.
