American drama Freedom Writers was released in 2007 and featured Hilary Swank, Scott Glenn, Mario, Patrick Dempsey & Imelda Staunton. It was directed and written by Richard LaGravenese. The 1999 book The Freedom Writers Journal by instructor Erin Gruwell and her pupils, who authored the book in their English lecture at Woodrow Wilson Classical School in Long Beach, California, is the inspiration for Freedom Writer.

Plot of Freedom Writer:
The plot of the film goes as follows: Idealistic At Woodrow Wilson School, which had a voluntary integration program put in place two years prior, Erin Gruwell is just beginning her first teaching position as a freshman and sophomore English instructor. Erin intentionally chose the school because of its training scheme, but she is unprepared for the culture of her pupils’ classroom, who uphold stringent moral codes that prioritize defending themself at all costs.
Most people know someone who has been slain by gang violence, and many of them are members of gangs. Latinos despise Cambodians, who despise Blacks, and so forth. Ms. Gruwell seems to be the only individual the pupils despise more. Erin doesn’t completely grasp what she’s up against until she has an unapproved conversation regarding a previous drive-by shooting death. The kids don’t start opening up to her until she assigns them to write a daily journal that won’t be evaluated and won’t be viewed by her only if they want it to be.
Erin seems to encounter more resistance as she works harder to get the resources she needs to teach effectively, especially from her coworkers like Margaret Campbell, the section head, who adheres to regulations and sees these assets as a waste, as well as Brian Gelford, who is willing to do whatever takes to maintain his “privileged” position of instructing senior honors classes. Scott Casey, a guy who appears to have abandoned his own idealistic path in life, and Erin’s marriage are both feeling the burden of her teaching position.
