How Did Nic Nevin Die On The Resident?
It was in the earlier part of The Resident Season 5 when Nic Nevin died after a devastating car accident. She got injured badly and failed to survive. The episode was titled “The Long and Winding Road”. More specifically, it was her brain that got severely affected.
Following Nic Nevin’s death, her organs were used for transplanting purposes for the patients who would require that. In The Resident, Nic Nevin’s husband, Conrad Hawkins, investigated what caused the car crash, which eventually took away his wife’s life. Was she drunk? Was it bad weather? Was she sleepy? No. Then why did Nic crash her car? How did things go wrong?
Well, Billie helped Conrad by sharing that just like Nic’s mother, Nic also had fainting spells when dehydrated. Considering it as a hereditary and genetic disorder, Conrad took their daughter, Gigi, for a genome test. But, the result was negative.
Concerning how hurtful Conrad was at the time, the drama also shared a clip on its official page on Twitter. Yes, that was The Resident!
Our poor Conrad. Why does he have to hurt so much?! 😢 #TheResident pic.twitter.com/BUD6rA5Sjv

He then went to the place where the car crash occurred and found out what went wrong. Nic was herself at the moment, keeping her life in danger, and that caused her death. There was a baby deer, and Nic wanted to save the animal. Of that, she swerved, and it accidentally crashed. It was kind of a bittersweet moment for both Conrad and the audience. It was good to see the baby deer alive and safe. But, it felt bad too, with Nic Nevin passing away, despite being such a wonderful person. It was useless to determine if Conrad was mad at her for being herself.
Well, it was not the plan of the writers of The Resident to make Nic as known as Emily, leave the show. But, it was the actress’ own decision to part ways. Why? The major reason behind it was Emily wanted to start her family off-screen. Yes! The reason why Emily left The Resident in Season 5 was that she was already expecting her first child with her husband, Josh Bowman. The creators knew about it and supported her. She kept it secretive until Iris, her daughter’s arrival on earth.
Sending Iris loads of love! Best Wishes to Emily VanCamp for the upcoming days of her life. Even though she exited The Resident as Nic Nevin, she still shares friendly relations with the cast, as it appears.
