Matt, Misty, and Marty have gathered up a bunch of new off-the-grid enthusiasts who are hoping to move away from civilization and create a self-sufficient living deep within the woods and mountains. With the increase in the number of earthquakes, hurricanes, and other disasters, Homestead Rescue helps families learn how to live without using many modern appliances.
Discovery’s Homestead Rescue is a reality series that showcases the Raney family, Marty, and his children, educating other families about living properly in the wilderness surrounded by nature and dangerous predators. The Raneys are experts in their field and can quickly deal with any sort of problem the aspiring off-the-grid family could be experiencing.
Off the grid living away from civilization means losing all unnecessary electrical equipment and other digital appliances and making use of resources that can be easily replenished. This prepares the family for any national emergency, hurricanes, and other disaster that would be heading their way.
While hoping to have an off-the-grid lifestyle is a popular dream, most people don’t know where to start and often end up returning to civilization. It’s experts like the Raneys who know just the right way to help these families out and show them the true meaning of independent living.
Recap
Summer arrives in Alaska and the Raneys celebrate the season by hosting a wholesome movie night. Marty talks to his kids about the various homestead rescues they’ve performed over the years and reviews each one of them. Becky and Jerry Hanson were homesteaders who had done everything to make their garden self-sufficient.
The Hansons adopted horticulture and were producing a high-quality fertilizer in their garden. Jerry Hanson also had a hunting license and made sure to store meat properly for colder seasons.
The biggest fear Jerry had was that he could lose all of his work in a wildfire. There was not much Jerry had done to protect his homestead from fire and this was the reason he called the Raneys to his place.
The Raneys then reviewed the case of Ricky and Ann Rutherford, where Ricky worked as a truck driver and left the country store with Ann. The heavy storms and lack of money made the store more of a challenge and they soon called Marty and the others to help them come up with a way to reverse things.
The Raneys not only expanded the country store but also brought back the happiness in Ricky and Ann’s lives while reigniting their off-the-grid living dreams too. This episode of Homestead Rescue was filled with reviews of older cases that managed to create an emotional impact on Marty’s family.
