If you have watched Homestead Rescue, then you’re probably familiar with the Raney family. They are the ones who help out fellow homesteaders in the midst of their crisis and have made a name for themselves doing so. But did you know about the tragedy that struck their own homestead built?
In 2021, a fire engulfed their whole cabin and completely destroyed it. The cause of this tragedy seems to be the chimney fire that got out of control. It was designed to maximize the amount of heat transferred to the house, but it looks like there were some flaws in their design.
It was something that they had been working on for the last few years, and all of it got wasted because of the fire. Due to the show making a big deal of the fire, fans have started to think that it was all staged or blown out of proportion for publicity to pump up the ratings.
It is not uncommon for producers to do such things in order to secure high viewership, so questions regarding its authenticity are quite valid to ask.
Viewers were especially upset because the details surrounding the fire were parsed out over several episodes, so they thought the show was deliberately dragging it out. However, the fire definitely did occur and destroyed all of the belongings inside, and this was just a case of over-dramatizing things.

Before diving into Homestead Rescue Season 11 Episode 6, let’s quickly talk about the show. The suspicions of the fire being fake or scripted could have also stemmed from the former cast members, who said that there was some misrepresentation and fake things in the show.
Wren and Ini, a couple who appeared in the episode on December 14, 2017, said that they didn’t use canola oil for the chainsaw fuel, contrary to what was portrayed in the show. They also said that there wasn’t really an issue gathering logs to build a cabin. The lumbers were already acquired beforehand.
In another instance, another couple, Kim and Josh Zabak, who were featured in episode two of the first season, took to social media to say how much they were really helped by the Raneys. They even went as far as to file a lawsuit against the show for misrepresenting them in the episode.
It seems that the couple was initially approached to be part of the show as successful homesteaders, but when the show portrayed them like they were the ones in need of help, it clearly didn’t sit well with them. It showed them as if the couple weren’t really sure what they were doing with their farm.
However, the result of the lawsuit remains in the dark. Now let’s discuss when Episode 6 of Homestead Rescue Season 11 will be released and what will happen in it.

Homestead Rescue Season 11 Episode 6 will be released on 07 January 2024 on Discovery. This Episode is titled “Texas Rift”. At the time of writing, 6 episodes are scheduled for this first season, but we don’t know if there will be any more episodes than that because it is only the first season.
The Synopsis of Episode 6 is as follows: “Squished together with their animals on a small portion of their land, a large family of homesteaders in Texas is on the verge of collapse. The Raneys need to carry out a massive renovation to bridge the gap between the homesteaders as well as the homestead.”
Episode 6 of Homestead Rescue Season 11 will air at 8:00 PM PT in the US. New episodes of Homestead Rescue Season 11 are released every Sunday. The episode 6 release timings for the rest of the world are as follows:
