A Japanese fantasy manga series written by Kazutomo Ichitomo, Handyman Sait in Another World has been serialized online since October 2018 and has been collected into eight tankōbon volumes. A television series adaptation of the anime will premiere on January 20, 2023, on C2C. The anime Handyman Saitou in Another World is based on the same theme as the plot.
Saitou is a skilled and hardworking handyman who lives in Japan. Although his supervisor does not see his hard work, he fires him for it. As he is unemployed and unlikely to find a new job anytime soon, he walks along the road while Truck-Kun works. Consequently, he creates a fantasy world of his own. As he joins an adventure team, he is motivated to improve the performance of the group.
However, some people unwittingly or actively derail the team. As such, he becomes a lever to make the team function efficiently. Helping them whenever possible and answering all of their questions has almost become an indispensable part of their lives. They feel empty without him, as if he is an integral part of their lives.
We see in episode 8 that as a result of their sacrificed life essence, Kisurugi and Primasse are crippled instead of killed, but Lavella loses her memory. When about to leave her alone, Kisurugi is reprimanded by Primasse, which inspires him to start his life anew with her.
In the Labyrinth, Crom’s other-worldly artifacts are confiscated by the crown, but Morlock has regained part of his memories, including how he had accidentally called Saito into this world. Handyman Saitou in Another World Episode 8 Review
In episode 8, Saitou finds the second half of the program more satisfying. Some of the finest jokes that take place during the plundering of the isekai tunnel include seeing magic Customs capture all the dimensionally shifted objects or spotting the warrior elf wearing a Ring Fit controller like a large collar.
What I appreciate about Handyman Saitou is its quirky energy, which also comes through in the more somber scenes, such as when Saitou is asked if he would like to go back home. This series addresses how isekai summoning works in the first place more than other recent isekai series. Characters who have had enough character development will inevitably return home in portal fantasies.
It’s more nuanced than that old-school resolution in portal fantasies. Several factors complicate the situation, including Morlock’s uncertain ability to use the reverse summoning spell and the possibility that it would put Saitou at risk of colliding with Truck-kun.
However, compared to the other issues of attachment and fulfillment, that doesn’t seem that important. This is a true reflection of Handyman Saitou’s grounded spirit. He acknowledges that he missed his family in his former world.
There is no exception, no easy street, but rather genuine fulfillment — appreciation for a job well done in this story. With greater pace, the Handyman Saitou finale might have been achieved in at least one episode less.
I still think it’s acceptable, even though there are some good parts throughout and some excellent art and animation to go with it. Even though I have a good feeling that Morlock’s apparent demise is just another of the show’s usual hoaxes, I’m delighted to hear that a fresh plot will begin the following week.
