In exciting news for Haikyuu!! fans, Haruichi Furudate, the creator of the beloved manga series, is set to craft a new one-shot chapter. Shueisha will publish this 16-page chapter in the upcoming 10th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on February 5. The one-shot, featuring a color page, is a special commemoration for the impending release of the film Gekijōban Haikyu!! Gomi Suteba no Kessen.
Furudate’s one-shot promises to offer a “different angle” to the iconic showdown between Karasuno High and Nekoma High. Haikyu!! originally debuted in 2011 and concluded its remarkable run in July 2020. Shueisha published the final volume, the 45th in the series, in November 2020. Viz Media has been handling the English publication, making the manga available both digitally and in print. MANGA Plus also offers the series digitally in English.
The anime adaptation by Production I.G has been a major success. The first season premiered in April 2014, followed by the second season in October 2015 and the third season in October 2016. The fourth season, Haikyuu!! To The Top, debuted its first half in January 2020, concluding with episode 13 in April 2020.
The second half, initially scheduled for July 2020, was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic but eventually premiered in October 2020. The upcoming Gekijōban Haikyuu!! Gomi Suteba no Kessen, the first film in the two-part Haikyuu!! Final sequel project, is slated to release in Japan on February 16.
The highly anticipated Gekijōban Haikyu!! Gomi Suteba no Kessen (Haikyuu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump), the inaugural installment in the two-part Haikyuu!! Final sequel film project, is set to premiere in Japan on February 16.
As an added treat for Japanese theatergoers, a special “volume 33.5” book will be distributed to commemorate the film’s release. Limited to 2 million lucky attendees, the book promises an exclusive experience. Inside, fans can find a new 16-page manga by the series creator, Haruichi Furudate, along with character illustrations, the storyboard for chapter 322, and a Q&A session with Furudate.
The Haikyuu!! manga has not only left a lasting impact on the page but has also extended its reach into various forms of media, including stage plays, a clay-animated short, compilation anime films, and several video anime adaptations. The upcoming movie is eagerly anticipated by fans as it promises to deliver a decisive battle in the ongoing story.
