Grand Theft Auto VI appears to have received a major boost from its Netflix showcase. According to estimates from analytics firm Sensor Tower, pre-order activity was around 572% above its average level across the two days surrounding the August 27 presentation.
The 26-minute Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premiered on Netflix on August 27 before becoming available through Rockstar’s official channels. The footage was captured entirely in-game on a standard PlayStation 5 and offered an extensive look at Jason, Lucia, and the wider world of Leonida.
Sensor Tower estimates that GTA VI pre-orders increased 436% on August 27 compared with the previous day. The increase was particularly strong on PlayStation 5, where estimated pre-orders climbed 606%, while Xbox Series X|S saw a 127% rise. These figures are estimates rather than official sales numbers from Rockstar or Take-Two.
Before the showcase, Sensor Tower had estimated roughly 4.55 million pre-orders since reservations opened in June. Rockstar has not publicly confirmed a total pre-order figure, meaning the latest numbers should be viewed as market estimates rather than an official sales result.
The Netflix partnership also appears to have benefited the streaming service, with reports indicating a sharp improvement in its U.S. App Store ranking following the showcase. GTA VI remains scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
