It all starts with the return of Serena Van Der Woodson to her home in the Upper East Side when she is spotted by Gossip Girl. Everyone is curious about why she was gone for a year from high school in the first place. She had a best friend named Blair Waldorf but the two hit rock bottom. As Blair is happy about her best friend’s return, she is also kind of sad about why she disappeared in the first place.
Soon, the news is revealed to her about how Serena and her boyfriend of years named, Nate Archibald had hooked up. Nate has mentioned his feelings for Serena a lot of times through the years, but she has always resisted while thinking about how Blair would feel. On the other hand, we see the Brooklyn family, who are only raised in a lower middle-class family by their father.
These kids are Dan and Jenny, and Humphrey. They are also studying in the same schools that these wealthy children are in and soon get involved in their lives. Jenny becomes a protege to Blair while trying to talk her way into working with her mom, who is a fashion designer. As for Dan, he soon starts dating Serena.

1. The Met Steps
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the biggest attractions of New York City and was used during the filming of the series. The historical and iconic steps were used as the location where Blair used to hang out and have lunch with her girlfriends during school breaks. 2. The New York Palace Hotel
This is a luxurious hotel located in Manhattan that has some very scenic beauty. It was used for filming the front courtyard of the schools, St. Jude School for Boys and Constance Billiard School for Girls. This school was mainly attended by wealthy kids of celebrities or wealthy billionaires.
3. The Empire Hotel
This luxury hotel was used by the filming crew to provide an exterior to the Chuck Bass penthouse where he lived. Serena and her mom also stayed here for a bit before the former married billionaire Bass.
4. The Palace Hotel
This is the place that was used when Bass and Van der Woodsen married in the first season. It was when Lily married Barthemeus Bass, a billionaire and CEO of Bass Industries.
5. Water Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn
This location provided the area and loft which was used for the home of the Humphrey family, who were living in Brooklyn. As for the interior shots, they were taken on a set only. The entire location was used as a bohemian artsy, which is used to make a visible difference between the class and wealth of the Brooklyn kids versus their Upper East Side associates.
