The Dakota Boys will return with an all-new episode of Gold Rush: White Water this week. Things seem to be heading South for Dustin and his crew after the storm at Nugget Creek ended up filling the hole they’ve been digging since the last few episodes.
Airing on television since January 19th, 2018, this Gold Rush spin-off follows members of “The Dakota Boys” particularly Fred Hurt (Dakota) and his son, Dustin Hurt as they travel to various whitewater creeks and water bodies in the Alaskan region in search of gold. Both of these men are highly skilled dredge divers who’ve been using suction dredges to find gold ores in the creeks.
They are accompanied by a crew consisting of Paul and Wes Richardson, James Hamm, Scott Allen, Kayla Johanson, and Justin Peterson. The show is executively produced by James Bates and Paul Christie acts as the narrator since season 4. Locations that Hurt and his team have managed to search include Cahoon Creek Claim, McKinley Creek, Porcupine Creek, and the Golden Gates Claim.
Season 6 of the series has been airing since November 11th, 2022, and with 10 episodes ordered for the show this time, the season has almost reached its end. The location Dustin currently focuses on is Nugget Creek, which is located in Southeast Alaska.
What Happened in Gold Rush: White Water Season 6 Episode 8?
In the previous episode titled “Explosion at Nugget Creek,” the crew is informed about an upcoming storm and since they were still new to mining at the place, they decide to tie away all equipment and boats to ensure that none of it is washed away. Everyone decides to go back to Haines, which is almost 35 miles away from the creek.
Buckets of concentrate are collected from Nugget Creek to make sure that there’s gold still lurking beneath the water. The miners are delighted to see multiple pieces of gold washing up as they filter the dirt. Two days later, Hurt’s crews return to the creek and Dustin reveals another airboat that he added to his collection since these were a reliable mode of transport while searching the waters.
Scott uses one of the other boats and brings in multiple barrels containing gas for fueling the airboats. Even without any prior experience, Scott hopes that he’d be able to ride up to the Tsirku River without any problems since he had experience using a boat and a hovercraft. After traveling about 400 feet, he gets stuck on land. Dustin helps him get back into the water and the fuel is safely delivered.

Dustin and the rest of the members return to Nugget Creek and see that all of their equipment is safe. James gets back into the water to check the dive hole and finds out that the storm had filled in almost half of the hole. They’d have to dig the hole back to a depth of 8 feet to reach the gold-rich layers. Seeing all of their work still being incomplete and the generators not being able to work faster causes Dustin to have an aggressive breakdown.
