‘Ghost Doctor’: Ending Explained
The last episode of the series showcased a lot of emotions and character development in a very extreme and delicate way. We saw Seung Tak and Young Min preparing for the latter’s operation. Young Min asks Dr. Ahn to assist the operation which surprises everyone. He told him that he always believed in him and knew that he has the capability inside to do all the things that a good surgeon can. This idea was not approved by Se Jin at first but Seung Tak convinced her.
On the other side, we also come to know that Choi Hoon Gil too has his surgery with Dr. Jang on the same day. He is very anxious as the other come ghost Kook Chan was not able to make it. His body was transferred to another hospital. Kook Chan bid his farewell to him, Young Min, and Seung Tak and said that he will be stepping out after a really long time and will take fresh air as much as he can.
However, Hoon Gil also made a very important revelation that Kook Chan has only a few days in his hands. And therefore, he was the one who suggested that he should be transferred to another hospital that is close to his family’s residency. So that he could see them often before he bids his final goodbye to this living world.
In the next scene, we saw a troubled and upset Young Min visiting Tess for the last time. After realizing the intensity of ruthlessness, he treated his patients with who had few chances to live he became aware of everything. There Tess says that he has been around this hospital for a long time now and has possessed the bodies of many but Young Min’s was the most powerful one among them.
Because he was the one who didn’t want to get possessed and therefore worked harder on improving his skills than his responsibilities as a doctor. But he is proud of him for being the best.
The next day comes and the stress lines can be seen on everyone’s forehead. They are worried and strongly hoping for Young Min to get back to his senses after this. We see Seung Tak and Dr. Ahn standing in the operation theatre with everyone else including Han Seung Won sitting behind the glass. The surgery begins and we can see Young Min getting unstable inside Seung Tak’s body. And just before the last step, he is pushed out of the latter’s body.
Seung Tak panics when Young Min asks him to do the stitches. He says that he wants him to do the last. Therefore, Dr. Ko gathered all his lessons and practices and put them into action. He was able to do it successfully and the ghost of Young Min disappeared. And Seung Tak was ecstatic.
An impatient and worried Se Jin was informed about the success of the surgery by Seung Tak. They were happy but also afraid that Young Min won’t remember a thing when he woke up from his coma state.
Everything paid off when Young Min gained his consciousness and the whole hospital came flooding in around his bed. At first, it absolutely looked like he doesn’t remember a thing when he asked Dr. Jang to go back to the US and ordered Seung Tak to take his hands off him.
But the tension disappears soon when Seung Tak comes in for changing his dressing and Young Min complains about the messy stitching even when he asked him to make it pretty. And we can see the relief and happiness on Seung Tak’s face. He keeps touching his body and hugging him tighter for all the following days.
Han Seung Won comes to meet Young Min and says that he is glad he has woken up. But the latter doesn’t take the crap as he remembers everything and says that he will make him pay for his sins. A panicked Seung Won comes out of the ward and receives a call from the police station.
Tae Hyun couldn’t take it anymore. The guilt was eating him up after Ban Tae Shik informed him that Young Min has been always putting good points for him so that he could be promoted to a higher position but Han Seung Won always denied it. He surrendered himself to the police and confessed all about his crimes and about Han Seung Won.
The police ask Seung Won to come to the police station by himself or they will have to drag him out. The chairman position is vacant.
On the other side, Se Jin confronts his brother and makes him confess his crimes. He is arrested by the police and we see Se Jin walking out with a proud smile on her face.
After spending 22 years in the hospital, Tess finally decides to bid farewell to it. He goes to meet Soo Jung with a chocolate cake for her. It was very obvious that the latter knew that she is talking to her grandfather. He bids goodbye to Seung Tak who he met as a little child. And finally, he takes his leave from the hospital in which he worked with his whole heart.
Young Min is finally discharged and we see him fretting about Se Jin leaving for the US. But his train of thoughts is interrupted when Se Jin shows up in his house. The two make up for the years they were apart and plans to live together.
After his full recovery Young Min returns to work with a dashing look. He meets Seung Tak and orders him to assist him in all the operations. He learnt the lesson that he ignored in his early working years that every life is precious. The time he spent with Seung Tak marked a beginning of a very beautiful relationship between them of love-hate. Their constant bickering yet fulfilling smiles make them the special duo of the series.
