Futurama Season 8 Episode 6 delves into Christmas, right in the middle of August. That’s just how ridiculously funny Futurama is; with tropes like Bender and Zoidberg going back in time to kidnap Robot Santa to ruin the holiday season for everyone. It is time to recap what went down with this episode that brilliantly brings out the best of past Futurama seasons to tie it up nicely into a bow for the current Hulu audiences.
In any case, there are a lot of fun things going on in this episode that I’m going to cover in the recap, and in case you haven’t seen this episode, reading this piece instead of actually watching one of the funniest Futurama episodes will ruin the fun for you.
Futurama Season 8 Episode 6 Recap
It’s Christmas time again in Futurama, and Professor Farnsworth, a brilliant scientist with a knack for inventing, comes up with the brilliant idea to bring Robot Santa back online. If you’ve seen Futurama in the past, you know that Robot Santa has a knack for creating annual havoc; Robot Santa is jolly and mischievous, up to the point of almost psychotic.
Farnsworth hatches a plan to alter the course of time in an attempt to permanently put an end to Robot Santa’s destructive antics, so Bender and Zoidberg travel back into the past to abduct Robot Santa.
Little does he know, this plan sets in motion a series of events that will forever change the lives of two unlikely friends, Zoidberg and Bender, who travel instead into the future and kidnap future Robot Santa, not the past Robot Santa, in a weird way, Zoidberg and Bender saved a bunch of people from getting killed.
As Zoidberg and Bender confront Robot Santa, an unforeseen complication arises, and the situation quickly escalates. What was supposed to be a simple act of holiday heroism goes upside down, with Bender making some of the funniest remarks of the season.Withh the holidays hanging in the balance and guilt weighing heavy on their metal and shell-like frames, Zoidberg and Bender must navigate an unexpected turn of events and find a way to set things right. Bender and Zoidberg try to get rid of Robot Santa’s body after they think they offed the thing.
They go breaking bad mode trying to dissolve the hunk of metal in acid, but they fai, because, just like Jesse in Breaking Bad, he doesn’t know the properties of acid and its containers, and the acid ends up chewing up everything but the robot. They go mafia mode and try to drown it in the middle of the water, but the thing comes up afloat; they try to flush him down a toilet, and that doesn’t work either.
Futurama Season 8 Episode 6 Ending Explained
This episode shows us the origins of Robot Santa, in a twisted, Futurama-esque sort of fashion. It manages to recap a bit the story of Robot Santa but delves deeper into the details of Robot Santa’s twisted persona. In the end, this makes one of the few episodes of Futurama that celebrates Christmas in a twisted kind of way, and that’s worthy of praise for such a long-running series.
Bender and Zoidberg learn a thing or two about disposing of a body, and given Bender’s proclivity for dealing with things, it might come up again whenever he wants to get rid of someone’s remains.

Futurama Season 8 Episode 6 Review
This is the first Futurama Christmas-themed episode in over 22 years; in the past, we’ve seen a couple of Christmas-themed episodes, but nothing like this one, and nothing like in the fashion that The Simpsons does, for that matter.
In any case, the holiday tropes make it about the only recent canonical episodes of Christmas in the show’s dilated existence. Bender’s antics are hilarious, and he takes elements of the Hulu season and seamlessly introduces them into the narrative for the audience of what Robot Santa is, and that gives out a lot of consistent scriptwriting.
