Who didn’t enjoy the film with the same title released on 15 August 1997? Disney+ has brought back the old band of people together for yet another adventure as they together explore the crumbling healthcare and education system in Sheffield. Created by Simon Beaufoy and Alice Nutter, the series follows the events after 26 years of the original film as the gang tries to navigate through the change in times.
Directed by Andrew Chaplin and Catherine Morshed, the series stars Robert Carlyle playing the role of Gary, Mark Addy playing the role of David Horsfall, Lesley Sharp playing the role of Jean Horsfall, Hugo Speer playing the role of Guy, Paul Barber playing the role of Barrington, Steve Huison playing the role of Lomper and Tom Wilkinson playing the role of Gerald Cooper in the lead cast.
The recurring cast of the series consists of Talitha Wing playing the role of Destiny, Nathan’s half-sister, Aiden Cook playing the role of Dean, William Shape playing the role of Nathan, and Lewis While playing the role of Ben Schofield. The series first became available to stream via Hotstar on 14 June 2023, with eight episodes, each having a runtime of 45 minutes.
Produced by Uberto Pasolini and Simon Beaufoy, the series is a kind-of sequel to the film released in 1990 with the same name by Simon Beaufoy. The series didn’t receive the same love and attention that the original movie of the 1990s got.

Full Monty – Premise
The series begins 26 years after the events of the film released in the 1970s with the full monty gang trying to navigate their lives with the changing times. Gaz has started to work as an orderly, living in squalor.
Gaz has married and divorced for the second time, while Dave now works as a security guard at a school where Jean, his wife, works as the dean, thus causing trouble in their marriage due to traction caused by Dave feeling inadequate.
Horse is seen making desperate attempts to claim his benefits while Lomper has gotten married to Dennis, and together they run a cafe with a problematic name. The last of the original band, Gerald, has retired and is living a quiet life. Things change when Dave discovers Twiglet, a young boy stealing food from the school’s kitchen, and coerces him to clean the place.
Meanwhile, Destiny, Gaz’s daughter, is a delinquent who has stolen a car only to find Chelsea, a dog, in it. Destiny steals the car from her close friend Cal, and the dog in the car is famous; thus, Destiny asks for help from Tabani, another one of her friends. Instead of helping Destiny, Tabani posts a photo of Chelsea for ransom. This leads to Destiny asking Gaz’s help to return the dog to Cal, only to learn that the dog owner’s father wants it killed.
Cal’s father offers money to Gaz to end Chelsea’s life. This is followed by Destiny walking in on her father, trying to end Chelsea’s life. Meanwhile, Dave takes a troubled teenager under his care as he feels lonely in his life. Meanwhile, Dilip tries to make a move on Jean while she is inside the girl’s washroom.
At the same time, two teenage girls enter the restroom and tease the two as men aren’t allowed to be in the women’s restroom. Meanwhile, Gaz, as a hospital porter, oversteps his remit after he helps a patient with psychiatric problems rekindle his creativity and love for art.
Gaz continues to apologize to his daughter for his attempt to kill Chelesa, but she goes to the house of Chelesea’s owner and informs her about the location of her beloved pet. Once at Chelesa’s owner’s house, Des is jealous of the lifestyle she has and wishes she could have all that.
Destiny returns Chelsea to her owner and feels happy when she is hugged by the owner in gratitude. Meanwhile, Lomper risks everything he has with his partner to prove he is successful and earn the respect of his husband.
The school’s music starts to demolish after a water pipe breaks inside the ceiling, and Dave is contacted by Jean to see if there’s a way to fix it. Darren’s heart and mind are opened to new possibilities by the arrival of an unexpected friend.
Horse finally takes a stand up for himself after all the hope for the betterment of his life is lost. Jean faces her problems and makes the final decision for her school and marriage while she is lost in the wood with Hetty, her ex-best friend.
The series ends with the Monty gang banding together for one last time to break the law in order to honor a lost friend. To give a proper funeral to his best-friend Horse, Gaz steals his body from the morgue. The series ends on a difficult note, with Horse dying due to starvation after he wasn’t able to find a job.
Full Monty Filming Locations
The filming of Full Monty began in the May of last year, with Manchester as the prime location.
1. Manchester
Manchester is one of the major cities located in the northwestern part of England, known for its rich heritage. The production crew of Full Monty used Manchester as their prime location to film several parts of the film. The scene with Gaz and the pigeon is filmed at this location. The series’ crew selected this location for its scenic beauty and alluring skyscrapers.
2. Sheffield, Yorkshire
Sheffield is a beautiful city in South Yorkshire known for its art and mental works displayed in several museums. Sheffield was used by the production crew of Full Mony to film several scenes throughout the movie.
The working men’s club in the series is filmed at Idsworth Road in Sheffield. The center appears in the opening shots of the series. The Meadowfield, located in Sheffield, was used by the crew to film the scene of Destiny taking sweets from a stall near JD Sports.
The scene with Robert helping Destiny return to Chelsea is filmed in this location. The scene with Destiny’s joy ride is also filmed at Meadowfield. Destiny’s house was filmed at a private property located in Sheffield.
The scene with the grain of sand mental health group is filmed at Gleadless Valley in Yorkshire. The scene with Dave leaving a pub while his wife deals with the flood in their school is shot at The Colliers Arms pub in Chadderton.
