World-class bladesmiths will return to recreate legendary weapons in Forged In Fire Season 10 Episodes 1 & 2 this week. They started filming in the studio for the tenth season on 5 July 2023, while the contestants were selected at the beginning of the year.
The third round consists of going to the bladesmith’s place and returning to the studio. Thus, filming the third round takes some time. Meanwhile, the bladesmiths also spend some time between the first two rounds. Thus, we can imagine why it took around four months from filming to airing.
The ninth season showed the first father-son duo to compete in Forged In Fire. Billy Salyers won the challenge in Season 7 Episode 9, and his son, Joseph “JoJo” Salyers, won in Season 9 Episode 18.
The four bladesmiths formed pairs and were sent home for forging for four days. Testing took place at the studio, and the losing pair was terminated. Finally, the top two bladesmiths played individually against each other, and only one won in Season 9 Episode 21.

The viewer rating for the Forged In Fire Season 9 did not follow a stable graph. The final-round weapons in the first ten episodes of the previous season were Curved Katars, The Sword of Mercy, Ninjato Sword, Serrated Indian Saber, Parang Nabur, Cinquedea Sword, “Fighter” knife, Argentinian Saber, Sargeant Hayden’s Sword, and Continental Calvary Saber.
The weapons made in the remaining episodes were Dpa’dam (Tibetan Sword), Flensing knife, Spatha, Xiphos, Rhomphaia, Gladius, Dolabra, Naga sword, Vaquero Machete, Kilij, Kindjal, Grutte Pier’s sword, Dhaab Ngao, Friauler spiess polearm, The Hunter’s iconic blades, and Japanese great sword.
The second episode, Blackout, puts the bladesmiths in the dark. They forged in the dark with only lanterns. However, there was no electrical equipment, including the time clock.
The eleventh episode brought another twist, where the bladesmiths flipped the script. Every bladesmith selected a card and built a blade mentioned in it with their attributes. However, they had to follow the basic blade, handle, and forging parameters.
Usually, a single winner gets $10,000 at the end of the episode. However, the winning amount was distributed equally between two winners from the thirteenth to seventeenth episodes. It means each of the two got $5,000.
Forged in Fire Season 10 Episode 1 & 2 Preview
Forged In Fire Season 10 Episodes 1 & 2 will air together. The tenth season is the special road edition. In the first episode, ‘On the Road: Texas Showdown,’ The Forged In Fire team will head to Bill Moran School of Bladesmithing in Texarkana, Texas, and pick the top three bladesmiths from the school to compete with each other.
The three will undergo two challenges, and only one will be the winner. The winner will represent the Bill Moran School against other smiths at the international level for a grand prize in the final round.
In the second episode, ‘On the Road: Montana Face-Off,’ the Forged In Fire team will go to New Agrarian School in Bigfork, Montana, and make the extraordinary smiths compete with each other. Further, only one winner will compete with other smiths at the international level in the final round.
Wil Willis, guiding the bladesmiths for the past seven seasons, might return as the host. On the other hand, Ben Abbott, Doug Marcaida, David Baker, Jason Knight, and J. Neilson might return as the judges.
We know that four new bladesmiths appear every episode, and they must work on one weapon in the first two rounds and another in the third round. However, the third round always comes with a painstaking challenge. The winner will return home with $10,000 and the remaining with experience.
