Recap
Season 4 of For All Mankind begins with a quick montage of all the events that led to a new mission for Happy Valley in the year 2003. With the start of the millennium, there was much hope from the companies and the people about making new advancements in space.
One such advancement was for Happy Valley, the Base, which was located on Mars and was flourishing despite being on a foreign planet. Led by Ed Baldwin, the Kronos mission aimed to bring an asteroid into the Mars orbit so that Happy Valley could extract the resources present on it for faster progress.
This was the first time that a cosmonaut was going to be landing on an asteroid, so when it happened successfully, there was celebration all over the planets. Soon after connecting to the asteroid, Ed’s spacecraft started experiencing turbulence, which turned out to be due to excessive cable tension from Kronos.
Two of the cosmonauts from Ed’s spacecraft go back into space and try to reinforce the cables. However, their plan never attains fruition as they die during the process. The Kronos mission was aborted due to the unfortunate casualties it caused.
Although she was promised that she’d be allowed to make consultations on any kind of space activities, Margo is now living a calm and low-profile life in the Soviet Union. Kelly Baldwin and her son are now living on earth.
Kelly wants to meet her father, but every time she calls him, he ends up being in the middle of an important mission. Ever since the horrible bombing of Johnson Space Center in season 3, Alieda has been suffering from PTSD and has panic attacks at work.
While all of this is going on, we also see the story of an oil rig worker who joins the mission to go to Mars. He was short of money and was trying to go to the moon, but since the waiting period was almost two years, the worker decided to go to Mars instead. Danielle Poole, the oil rig worker, and many others prepare to leave for Mars.
