Crunchyroll and YTV are soon premiering an adaptation of a manga about a firefighter crew that has around seven volumes and dates back to the mid-1990s. With it, Crunchyroll aims to expand its vast catalog of productions and simulcasts with anime for all tastes and varieties as it strengthens its position as one of the leading platforms of anime distribution around the world.
Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer in Orange takes inspiration from the manga series Firefighter! Daigo of Fire Company M, developed by Masahito Soda back in its day. With a modern twist, and with the help of Brain’s Base studios, the same ones that brought us animes like “Kure-nai”, and “Duel Masters” and movies like “Dance with Devils: Fortuna”, Crunchyroll aims big.
Now, ahead of the premiere of this anime, we prepared a scoop for you in case this anime piques your interest. So, after reading our piece, you’ll be well on your way to enjoying this anime that gives vibes of shows like Chicago Fire but in anime form.
Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer In Orange Preview
Firefighter Daigo is a recent adaptation of a manga series penned by Masahito Soda in Weekly Shonen Sunday back in the 1990s that told the story of a firefighter company, their challenges, personal woes as well as their professional careers. Looking in retrospect, it feels as though it were an adaptation of Chicago Fire or those firefighter shows you see on American TV.
Years later, Brain’s Base, along with Crunchyroll, adapted this serialized graphic novel into Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer In Orange. While the adaptation slightly differs from the original manga, it tells the stories of three firefighters who go into the academy, undergo training, experience personal and professional challenges, develop rivalries, and then start working at a Tokyo fire engine.
We have Daigo Toake, Shun Onda, and Yuki Nakamura, and each of them has their own expectations, problems, traumas, and aspirations. The first one is talented and determined. Onda has a lot of skeletons in his closet and must confront his own personal traumas. And Yuki, the female firefighter of the bunch, struggles for recognition in a male-dominated environment.
