Season 2 of Ryan Murphy’s historical anthology series Feud has officially returned. Capote vs. The Swans, the brand-new, star-studded instalment of the FX drama, marks the show’s return after a nearly seven-year hiatus.
It centres on the falling out between infamous writer Truman Capote and a number of his New York socialite friends, including Ann Woodward, Babe Paley, CZ Guest, Gloria Guinness, Joanne Carson, and Slim Keith.
After much anticipation, the highly anticipated Ryan Murphy anthology series Feud will finally have a second season start date. Six years have passed since the first episode of the anthology show appeared.
Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon had outstanding performances in that episode, which dramatized the rivalry between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, two Hollywood icons. Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, the show’s much-anticipated comeback, centres on the repercussions and scandal that transpired between renowned author and screenwriter Truman Capote and a group of influential women.
Recap
Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, 1984 is where we start. While meandering through a cemetery, Tom Hollander’s character Truman Capote notices a large group of swans floating around a nearby lake. Here are two crucial contextual details: First of all, as you read about this play, you’ll come to realize that a group of swans is indeed referred to as a “bevvy.” Moreover, Capote passed away in 1984. Were these his last dreams?
The scene from Capote vs. the Swans then cuts to 1968, where a younger Truman comforts Babe Paley, who is about to have a nervous breakdown. She had enough of her husband Bill destroying their bed linens after they had slept in their bed together when she was menstruating with the governor’s wife, Happy Rockefeller (Rebecca Creskoff).
Truman, however, has a simple solution for Babe’s problems: take valium and consider the most exquisite jewellery ever created. Bill is willing to buy Babe anything, after all, to prevent this scandal from getting out.
Truman is the only man Babe will ever need in her life and the only one who has the potential to truly hurt her, so she settles down with him as her giant spoon. Truman says, “And that would never happen.”
Then, we travel even farther back in time to 1955, when the Paley family is getting ready to go on vacation with a few pals, including Happy.
