After years of standing out in the shonen manga scene, Fate Rewinder is finally making the jump to anime. The award-winning manga made history by becoming the first series to top Monthly CoroCoro Comic’s reader popularity poll for 12 consecutive months before winning the 71st Shogakukan Manga Award in January 2026 alongside Dandadan.

Now, fans have another milestone to celebrate, as the highly anticipated Fate Rewinder anime has officially been confirmed for an April 2027 premiere.

A Time-Loop Story With High Stakes

At the heart of Fate Rewinder is the Space-Time Strategic Enforcement Unit, a special organization tasked with preventing tragic deaths. Its agents use devices called Retry Eyes, miniature time machines implanted in their eyes that allow them to repeatedly return to the same moment in an attempt to change a person’s fate.

Unlike many time-travel stories, every failed attempt comes with consequences. The repeated loops place heavy emotional and mental pressure on the agents, making each mission more than just a race against time.

This blend of science fiction, action, and psychological drama has helped the manga stand out. Instead of treating time travel as an easy solution, the story explores the sacrifices required to rewrite destiny.

Veteran Creators Bring the Anime to Life

The anime is directed by Rie Matsumoto, whose work on Blood Blockade Battlefront and Kyousougiga has earned praise for its creative visual style and energetic storytelling. Animation is being handled by Bones Film, the studio behind acclaimed productions such as Fullmetal Alchemist and My Hero Academia.

Character designs are created by Toshihiro Kawamoto, while Kimiko Ueno oversees the series composition and scripts. The music is composed by Satoshi Murai, with production support from Story Inc., the company involved in the hit anime film Suzume.

The combination of experienced staff gives Fate Rewinder a strong creative foundation. With a director known for dynamic action and emotional storytelling, expectations are already high for the adaptation.

Meet the Main Voice Cast

The anime stars Sho Komura as Chrono, a rookie member of the Fate Rewinders who becomes the audience’s guide through the story. His journey introduces viewers to the dangers and responsibilities that come with changing the past.

Joining him is Koki Uchiyama as Shirai, the unit’s strongest and most experienced Rewinder. Kohei Amasaki voices Akaba, another promising young agent, while Reina Ueda plays Lemon, an android Rewinder with a unique role within the team.

The cast has already shared their excitement about the project following its announcement. Their enthusiasm, combined with the series’ growing popularity, has further increased anticipation ahead of the anime’s 2027 debut.

Why Fate Rewinder Is One to Watch

The anime arrives with strong momentum thanks to its award-winning source material and an experienced production team. Its unique take on time travel and life-or-death missions has already earned the manga praise from readers and industry professionals alike.

International interest is also expected to grow later this year when Yen Press releases the manga’s first English print volume. The release will give new readers an opportunity to experience the story before the anime premieres.

With worldwide streaming confirmed, a respected animation studio behind the project, and a fresh science-fiction premise, Fate Rewinder is shaping up to be one of the most promising new anime series arriving in Spring 2027.
