We are going to talk about Fast X’s ending, but before we do, we must cover a few details as there are a few things to unpack; after all, it’s been well over two decades of movies and a lot of character development stories that intertwine here.
With the untimely death of Paul Walker, the movie saga eventually had to adapt, and the entire thing became about Toretto and his gang, something that the scriptwriters had to improvise and adapt into the story arc.
They did so simply by making Toretto some super thug who became friendly with Dwayne Johnson’s character and by adding extra dialogue between Chris Bridges and Tyrese Gibson, also intertwining it with some scantily dressed women and a couple of movie actors all buffed up into their Hulk-esque aesthetics like Jason “Khal-Drogo” Momoa and WWF’s John “I-Love-The-Chinese-Communist-Party” Cena.
Fast & Furious: The Story So Far
Way back then, Fast and Furious started out with the topic of underground street racing, between an undercover rogue cop and a criminal thug.
But high-octane heists gradually became the focus of the series, drifting from its initial storyline. Fast-forward a couple of decades and a bunch of movies later; we have Fast X.
This movie includes references to Fast Five, the film that signaled the start of the franchise’s heist era. The crew of Fast Five sets out on a heist to steal a chip that reveals the whereabouts of a drug lord’s stash houses in Brazil. Starting from those movies, we see the introduction of a few characters that even led to a spin-off movie.
Jason Statham’s character, Deckard Shaw, initially opposed the crew but eventually adopted them as his own. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Hobbs changes from trying to apprehend Dom’s team to assisting them in their heists.
As the movies unfolded and needed a little bit of meat in that bone, the scriptwriters had to recycle a few characters. So, the return of Letty, who was initially believed to be dead but was later shown to be alive, becomes one of the motives for Toretto’s antics.

Fast X Ending Explained
In the latest installment of the franchise, “Fast X,” Dominic Toretto finds himself facing a new and formidable adversary named Dante Reyes, portrayed by Jason Momoa. Reyes harbors a deep grudge against the Toretto crew for killing his father and stealing their money stash in a previous film. His mission is to dismantle the entire Toretto family, and by the end of the film, he succeeds in leaving them in dangerous limbo.
Dom narrowly escapes Dante’s wrath but finds himself trapped atop a dam in Portugal with his son Brian, facing imminent destruction. The film leaves us wondering how Dom will find a way out in the next installment.
Jakob Toretto, played by John Cena, had recently reconciled with the family after years of estrangement. He dedicates himself to protecting Little Brian, Dom’s son, and assists in their escape from Dante.
However, Jakob realizes that Brian has been taken by Dante and makes the ultimate sacrifice by sacrificing himself to save Dom and give him a chance to continue fighting. While it is not confirmed if Jakob survives, his sacrifice will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the family.
Letty Ortiz, portrayed by Michelle Rodriguez, becomes an unexpected ally against Dante. She is picked up by the Agency and forced to share a cell with Cipher, played by Charlize Theron, who has a history with Dante.
Clashes Come And Go
Although they initially clash, Letty realizes that Cipher can provide a way out of the black site. Their escape plan takes a surprising turn, leaving Letty and Cipher stuck in Antarctica without knowing the fate of the rest of the Toretto family.
Dante’s attack in Rome leads to chaos within the Toretto crew. Tej, Roman, Ramsey, and Han find themselves divided and searching for resources to aid Dom. Their plans are foiled by a last-minute betrayal from Aimes, the acting director of The Agency, who reveals himself as Dante’s long-time ally and shoots down their plane. The fate of Tej, Roman, Ramsey, and Han is uncertain as they desperately seek cover while the plane crashes around them.
Aimes’ rise to a significant post within The Agency remains unclear, but his alliance with Dante has compromised the organization. Despite Dante’s obsession with causing suffering and apparent victories, the Toretto crew is resilient and determined to pick up the pieces. The question remains whether Dante’s winning streak will lead to overconfidence and a costly mistake.
Cameos Here And There
Deckard Shaw, played by Jason Statham, makes a brief appearance in “Fast X” when Han seeks his help in the fight against Dante. Their meeting marks the first encounter since Shaw seemingly killed Han years ago.
It is revealed that Dante used stolen money to hire mercenaries to target anyone who has assisted the Toretto crew, including Shaw’s mother. Shaw embarks on a personal mission to protect his mother, setting the stage for a dramatic and potentially bloody confrontation.
New characters emerge in “Fast X,” such as Tess, Mr. Nobody’s daughter, who remains a staunch supporter of Dom despite opposition from The Agency. Isabel, a Brazilian street racer and the sister of Dom’s former lover Elena, also aligns herself with the Toretto family.
Mia Toretto, played by Jordana Brewster, briefly participates in the battles before returning to hiding with her husband and children. However, with Dante’s hired killers on their trail, Mia may be drawn back into the fight.
The Toretto family has lost crucial allies in Mr. Nobody and Little Nobody, who are both out of commission due to Dante’s actions. While their roles in the next film are uncertain, their intelligence, resourcefulness, and leadership positions may lead to their return. Cipher, despite her initial setbacks, reveals her escape plan and forms an alliance with Gisele Yashar, played by Gal Gadot, who is thought to be dead. This revelation raises questions about Gisele’s true fate and Han’s reaction to seeing her once again.
In summary, “Fast X” thrusts the Toretto family into a state of chaos and peril as Dante Reyes seeks revenge and aims to dismantle everything they hold dear. The film ends with the Toretto crew scattered, betrayed, and facing uncertain futures. The stage is set for an intense and highly anticipated next installment, where the fate of the characters and the resolution of their conflicts will be unveiled.
