Fantastic Beast 3: The Secrets of Dumbledore is an adventure, fantasy tale released recently on 8th April 2022. The Fantastic Beasts series is a prequel series to the Harry Potter series, a sequel to the last movie of the series, ‘Fantastic Beast: The Crimes of Grindelwald’. The Fantastic Beast 3 filming took place in multiple locations but specifically Brazil which is completely different from than last two movies’ locations – New York and Paris.
The story of this series goes as ahead as 70 years when Dumbledore was just a student at Hogwarts. Although this series is not as hyped as Harry Potter, the Potterheads know it is just as good. This series is also an adaptation of a book series written by J.K Rowling herself. And Secrets of Dumbledore is the third of the 5 books series.
Starring Jude Law as Dumbledore along with Mads Mikkelsen as Gellert Grindelwald. This movie will take you into the deep sea that the Hogwart world is. And if you love immersing yourself in that world, then you’ll love the fantastic beast series.
Fantastic Beasts 3 Filming Locations
The third and latest edition of the Fantastic Beast series was released just last week. Fantastic Beast: The Secrets of Dumbledore is filmed in multiple locations across the globe. Some of them are England, Germany, Brazil, and Bhutan. Let’s look at each one of them closely.
England, United Kingdom
In the trailer, you could see some scenes with the backdrop of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade. And believe me, Hogwarts and Hogsmeade of this movie are exactly that of the Harry Potter series which makes it even better!
And those scenes couldn’t have been filmed anywhere but at the iconic Warner Brother Studios in Leavesden, England. One of the producers spoke about Fantastic Beast 3 filming at iconic studios. He stated that the majority of the shooting for this movie took place in the WB Studios.
He also mentioned that the entire crew was the most supportive in all aspects and the overall environment felt safe and comfortable. Only the Potterheads will know the feeling that the Hogwarts building brings about. And seeing that exact location on Fantastic Beast 3 will definitely be nostalgic.
Rio De Jenerio, Brazil
So, the whole team flew all the way to Brazil to shoot some scenes. There is no mention of what scenes were shot in Brazil, but they were prominent in the film.
Rio De Janeiro is a beautiful place to film. The cast and crew also enjoyed the food and culture of Brazil. Although it is a big risk taken by the creators, it turned out pretty good in the end.
Berlin, Germany
The cast was shot filming in the capital city of Germany, Berlin. The streets of Berlin give the vintage effect that is used a lot in shoots. And since Fantastic Beasts’ timeline is in the 1920s, this location seemed just right.
Bhutan
Bhutan is another shooting location where the cast and crew were spotted. The religious Buddhist architecture gave off the vibe of a mystical-magical place. The mythical location in Bhutan is the Magisterial Chamber of Wizardly in the movie. Wizardly magic and Buddhist Myths go well together. So the location was apt for the movie!
What Is The Movie About?
The story’s main character is Albus Dumbledore, and the antagonist is Grindelwald. Gellert Grindelwald is greedy for power and wants to be the best wizard, but it is actually Dumbledore. He is trying everything to cease Grindelwald’s dirty attempts for power, however, he needs help. Albus entrusts Newt Scamander with the job to prevent harm to the wizards and witches. But it gets tougher as Grindelwald gets stronger with a larger army by his side.

Jude Law is Albus Dumbledore of the Fantastic Beasts era. Gellert Grindelwald is played by Mads Mikkelsen, and Newt Scamander is played by ‘Theory of Everything’ fame Eddie Redmayne. It also stars ‘The Flash’ fame Ezra Miller as Credence Barebone, later came to be known as Aurelius Dumbledore, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Katherine Waterston as Queenie’s sister Propertina Goldstein, Callum Turner as Theseus Scamander, and many more.
