The “Fallout” series is announced to premiere on April 12, 2024, on Prime Video. The official release date was announced by the owner of the franchise, Bethesda’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.
The series is developed by award-winning series Wasteland director Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who are also the executive producers of the series, with Killer Production Company for Amazon Prime Video. It is adapted from the role-playing video game franchise “Fallout,” which was created by Interplay earlier and is now owned by Bethesda Softworks.
In 2020, Amazon acquired the rights to produce a live-action project, after which Fallout is the most highly anticipated live-action project for Prime Video. The series was developed by Joy and Nolan along with acclaimed video creator Todd Howard, the producer of Bethesda Games Studios.
Todd Howard is also the creator of various parts of the game series, which might be the reason for including him as one of the executive producers to develop the series with more details to make it as much as an adaptation of the video games.
Nolan has expressed that the team has the intention of maintaining the essence of the franchise, but by not directly adapting the game’s whole plot; instead, they are willing to create an original story within the existing Fallout universe. Nolan and Joy have directed the first three episodes of the series. Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner are the co-showrunners and also the executive producers.
