Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 made a great impression at D23. Fans saw a preview of the upcoming season, narrated by Percy Jackson actor Walker Scobell. This season continues the story from the second book in Rick Riordan’s series, The Sea of Monsters.
Viewers can look forward to more from Camp Half-Blood, meeting Tyson (Daniel Diemer), seeing more Percabeth, and Grover (Aryan Simhadri) in his famous wedding dress. There will also be a chariot race.
At the D23 panel, new casting updates were announced. The Gray Sisters—Anger, Tempest, and Wasp—are cast for Season 2. Sandra Bernhard will play Anger, Kristen Schaal will play Tempest, and Margaret Cho will play Wasp. These characters share one eye and one tooth and run a taxi service in New York City in the series.
The preview also showed a boat’s steering wheel. It was confirmed that Luke (Charlie Bushnell) and his boat will appear in Season 2. They will bring back Cronos and start the Golden Age.
Fans might remember this scene from the movie, and it seems we’ll see a new version soon. The chariot race from the book The Sea of Monsters was also featured. Rick Riordan’s website describes the book’s plot:
When Thalia’s tree is poisoned, the magical borders of Camp Half-Blood start to fail. Percy and his friends have just days to find a magical item that can save the camp before monsters overrun it.
They must sail into the Sea of Monsters to find it. Percy also needs to rescue his old friend Grover and learns a troubling secret about his family, questioning if being Poseidon’s son is a blessing or a curse.
Who Else Could Join Percy Jackson and the Olympians?
Other news from the panel included the promotion of Charlie Bushnell and Dior Goodjohn (playing Ares’s daughter Clarisse La Rue) to series regulars for Season 2. The cast discussed their excitement for the new season, with Poseidon actor Toby Stephens looking forward to seeing Percy and his half-brother Tyson meet.
The cast also shared their hopes for future guest stars. Walker Scobell suggested Logan Lerman for Triton, Poseidon’s son and Percy’s half-brother.
Dior Goodjohn recommended Viola Davis for Athena, Leah Jeffries wants Zendaya, and Aryan Simhadri hopes Jamie Lee Curtis might make a guest appearance. Jason Mantzoukas suggested Nicolas Cage, and Toby Stephens humorously mentioned William Shatner as a ‘young’ Poseidon.
