This is because there is Draco Peak and legends tell that there is a nest of dragons situated somewhere in there.
But according to him the old story about Dwarves stealing fire was just a fairy tale but there actually was a forge not dissimilar to all that and maybe those old poems carry some shades of truth. Then he recalls another story that he had heard from the High Elf when he turned 100.
According to the High Elf in their lands, there exist five truly immortal. Their friends, the Spirits who tirelessly sustain the land; the True Dragon, whose sleep will continue until the end of time at hand; the true Titans, who observe the world from high above any cloud; the true Pheonix, who is reborn as a chick upon death, the cycle of death and rebirth endowed; and lastly, they themselves (Elves) who live on unto eternity as spirits.
Later in the chapter, we saw him wondering that the first order of business is to investigate. First, he wants to verify the legitimacy of the reports that Fohdle plans to invade Ludria, and if it’s true he has to figure out how they mean to. He is trying to solve how they will get across the mountains after he has blocked the path. Although he knows that, they are going to need some way across if they are going to try for a surprise attack.
