Funcom has officially announced that Dune: Awakening will receive a physical PlayStation 5 release this fall, expanding access to retail markets worldwide ahead of its full console launch.

The boxed edition is scheduled to release on September 22, 2026, launching alongside the digital PS5 version in select regions. The announcement confirms that pre-orders are now open, giving fans an early opportunity to secure a physical copy of the survival MMO set on Arrakis.

Global Distribution and Release Plans Confirmed

For its physical edition, Funcom has partnered with Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe and Solutions 2 GO Inc. to manage global distribution.

Bandai Namco will oversee retail availability across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, while Solutions 2 GO Inc. will handle North and South American markets.

In Japan, the physical edition is also planned, with a local publisher yet to be announced. The Japanese release is expected shortly after, targeting an October 2026 launch window.

Players who purchase the physical edition within the early window will receive exclusive in-game items, including:

  • Terrarium of Muad’Dib base decoration
  • Global color swatch customization item

These bonuses are designed to enhance base-building and personalization features within the game.

The announcement follows ongoing development updates for Dune: Awakening, which continues to expand its survival gameplay systems and narrative scope. The game is set on the harsh desert planet of Arrakis, where players must navigate political conflict, resource scarcity, and environmental survival challenges.

Funcom also noted that additional updates, including new single-player content, will be revealed closer to launch.
