Dune: Awakening is turning its Twitch community into a battle between two of the most recognizable factions in the Dune universe. From September 22 through September 29, participating Twitch streamers will represent either House Atreides or House Harkonnen in the Battle for Control of Arrakis, a week-long community event that combines gameplay challenges, free in-game rewards, and charitable fundraising.
The event comes as Dune: Awakening expands to console platforms, with the game officially launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22. The timing gives new and existing players another way to participate in the game’s community beyond simply surviving Arrakis.
More importantly, the campaign connects progress inside Dune: Awakening to real-world donations. As streamers and viewers help their chosen House accumulate Influence, community milestones can unlock donations from Funcom to charity: water, with up to $20,000 available throughout the event.
House Atreides and Harkonnen Compete for Influence
Participating creators must choose between House Atreides and House Harkonnen before taking part in the event. Streamers will then play Dune: Awakening, complete challenges and earn XP for their selected faction.
That XP contributes toward their House’s overall Influence. As Influence increases across the community, both Houses move closer to milestones that can unlock rewards and charitable donations.
The event is also designed to make the rivalry visible during livestreams. Stream overlays created by GetRekt will allow viewers to follow the competition and see how each House is progressing. Nitrado is supporting the campaign by providing dedicated Dune: Awakening infrastructure for participating Twitch creators.
The Battle for Control of Arrakis is not limited to the creators playing the game. Viewers will also have opportunities to influence the competition during selected livestreams.
At certain moments, viewers can use chat commands to help their preferred House earn additional XP. Those contributions can help push Atreides or Harkonnen toward the next Influence milestone, giving the Twitch audience an active role in the campaign rather than simply watching the stream.
Once milestones are reached, the community can unlock both cosmetic rewards and donations to charity: water.
Free Dune: Awakening Cosmetics and DLC Are Up for Grabs
The event’s reward milestones include several Dune: Awakening cosmetic items, as well as the Raiders of the Broken Land DLC.
The announced cosmetic rewards include the Atreides Battle Rifle Skin, Maula Pistol Richese Skin, Atreides Warship Carving Wall Decoration, and A Memory of Pain Mural. Once a giveaway has been unlocked, individual streamers will decide when to activate it on their channels.
The charitable side of the event is tied to the same Influence milestones. When qualifying thresholds are reached, Funcom will unlock guaranteed donations to charity: water, with the campaign capable of generating up to $20,000 in total donations.
