If you enjoy Pokémon anime, there is exciting news for you. The official Japanese Twitter/X account for Pokémon has shared an announcement about a brand-new series. This series will be available for free on YouTube and will focus on Dragonite, one of the most beloved Pokémon.
The series is called Dragonite and the Mailman, and it will premiere on February 27 on the official Pokémon YouTube channel. The number of episodes has not been revealed yet.
A Story About Friendship and Adventure
The new series will introduce Hana, a girl who admires a hardworking postal worker, Dragonite. She gets the chance to join Dragonite and her small Pokémon partner, Fuecoco, on a special mission. One day, Hana receives a letter with no recipient. Instead of ignoring it, she decides to find the sender.
This leads her to a boy named Rio, who wrote the letter for his father. Since Rio’s father’s birthday is approaching, Hana, Dragonite, and Fuecoco decide to deliver the letter in person. Together, they set off on an adventure to the Kanto region, hoping to find Rio’s father in time.
A Different Side of Dragonite
Pokémon fans know that Dragonite is one of the most powerful Pokémon in the series. However, this series will focus on a different side of Dragonite. Instead of fierce battles, the story highlights Dragonite’s peaceful nature and dedication to delivering mail. Fans will get to see a charming tale about daily life in the Pokémon universe, which offers a refreshing change from the usual battle-focused stories.
The Team Bringing the Series to Life
The series is directed by Taku Kimura, who also directed an episode of Star Wars: Visions. Kimura is responsible for the storyboards, while Nana Kentaro wrote the screenplay. The series is produced by CoMix Wave Films, a studio well known for working on films by the famous Japanese filmmaker Makoto Shinkai.
This studio created movies like Your Name and Suzume, which have received high praise worldwide. With such a talented team, Pokémon fans can expect a beautifully crafted series.
