Dragon Ball Super’s return to the shelves this month brought both anticipation and sorrow. With the release of chapter 103, fans were reminded of the recent loss of creator Akira Toriyama.
However, amidst the grief, the artist behind Dragon Ball Super, Toyotaro, has opened up about the latest chapter, revealing the influence of Toriyama on the Super Hero arc.
In a recent interview conducted by Shueisha’s editorial team at V-Jump, Toyotaro discussed his collaboration with Toriyama on the manga. Reflecting on the Super Hero storyline’s climax,
Toyotaro confessed that while he contributed to the arc’s prologue, Toriyama took charge of the main plot from chapters 91 to 100, as well as the epilogue spanning chapters 101 to 103.
“The prologue in chapters 88-90 was a story created from the things I wanted to do with Toriyama’s corrections. But of course, the scenario for chapters 91-100 with the main plot of the movie, and even the epilogue in chapters 101-103 was… written by Toriyama. I added some of the dialogue and plot points, but in general, the content is the dialogue and plot points,” Toyotaro shared.
This revelation sheds new light on the dynamics behind Dragon Ball Super’s manga, especially as it continues the series following the conclusion of the anime.
With original arcs and the recent Super Hero arc, the manga has provided fans with fresh narratives, with Toriyama’s influence still resonating even after his passing.
As fans reflect on Toriyama’s legacy and his impact on the Dragon Ball universe, they can turn to the Shonen Jump app to catch up on the latest manga chapters.
Despite the emotional weight of Toriyama’s absence, his contributions to the series ensure that his influence will endure, shaping the future of Dragon Ball Super.
