Doctor Odyssey is back with another exciting episode, picking up right where things left off in the previous one. The last episode shocked everyone with a terrifying shark attack, but this new episode brings even bigger dangers. This time, orcas pose a serious threat to the ship and its crew.
However, the real tension comes from the complicated emotions between Max, Avery, and Tristan. Their relationship is facing serious challenges, and misunderstandings only make things worse.
The episode begins with Max, Tristan, Avery, and Brooke desperately trying to save Spencer’s life in complete darkness. Spencer is critically injured, but they manage to keep him stable for now. However, Josie’s condition is getting worse, and no one knows why.
Realizing they can’t handle all of the injured people on board, Max tells Captain Massey that they need to move them to a rescue tender and take them to shore as quickly as possible. This plan sounds simple enough, but things quickly take a turn for the worse.
As they prepare to transport the injured, the orcas become a bigger problem. At the same time, Avery and Max are struggling with their personal issues. Avery is still angry at Max for the way he reacted when he learned about her pregnancy.
Now, during this life-threatening situation, she also has to deal with the awkwardness of Max and Brooke’s playful flirting. Brooke is supposed to leave the ship with the rescue team, but at the last minute, Avery decides to go with her. Max is immediately worried about her safety, but Avery is frustrated by his concern. She insists that she has more experience in these situations than Tristan, and Max cannot argue with that.
When Tristan gets a moment alone with Avery, he also expresses his concern, but he handles it differently. He gives her some Dramamine and suggests ways to prevent motion sickness. Avery is still annoyed but seems more willing to listen to Tristan than to Max. As they watch Max and Brooke say their goodbyes, Tristan uses the moment to strengthen his connection with Avery.
As Brooke and Avery leave, Max notices Tristan shaking his head at him disapprovingly. Max immediately calls him out on it, and Tristan doesn’t hold back. He tells Max that he doesn’t like the way he has been treating Avery. He also accuses Max of wanting everything—Avery, the baby, and something on the side with Brooke.
Tristan’s perspective may not be entirely fair, but the episode keeps trying to highlight Max’s treatment of Avery. However, it isn’t clear what Max has done differently besides being worried about Avery and acting a little more guarded than before. The lack of proper communication between the characters makes the situation even more complicated.
The Orcas Create Chaos on the Rescue Tender
Meanwhile, Captain Massey and his crew are discussing how to handle the orcas. Some of their ideas sound more like party tricks, such as using fireworks and a nose cannon. However, Jay comes up with a more practical solution—sand.
Dumping sand into the water makes the orcas scatter long enough for them to launch the rescue tender and focus on fixing the ship’s power systems. But just as they think they have solved one problem, new ones emerge.
On the rescue tender, Brooke starts a conversation with Avery about Max. She feels like she is getting in the way of something between Avery and Max. Avery quickly dismisses her concerns, but then Brooke brings up Tristan, suggesting that there may be something happening between Avery and him instead.
Avery avoids answering and changes the subject to medical school. Brooke shares her own experiences but also warns Avery that she will likely be asked about having children. This immediately catches Avery’s attention. She asks Brooke what she should say if someone asks, and Brooke simply tells her to lie, no matter what.
Before they can continue their conversation, the orcas return and set their sights on a new target. The crew acts quickly, and thanks to some fast thinking by Ray, they manage to turn the rescue tender around and head back toward the Odyssey.
However, the wild movement makes things worse for Brodie and Josie, whose conditions have become even more critical. Back on the ship, Max and Brooke come up with a way to power their minifridges by connecting them together. This helps them keep important medical supplies cold while they try to stabilize Josie.
More Drama Between Max, Avery, and Tristan
This episode also spends time developing Brooke’s character, which suggests that she may play a bigger role in future episodes. She shares a personal story with Max about her father and explains why she chose to become a surgeon instead of following in his footsteps.

Although Max and Brooke are very different people, they seem to have a natural connection. Their usual playful teasing shifts into a more comfortable and genuine conversation.
At the same time, Tristan makes an important decision. After discovering that Spencer was leaving a trail of blood in the hallway, he takes him to the bridge to help the Captain and the crew work on the power problems.
Tristan knows that Spencer misses being in control of situations like this, so he doesn’t want to hold him back. This kind gesture earns him points with Avery. As they walk back to the medical bay, she tells him how kind he is, and in that emotional moment, they share a kiss.
While the moment is romantic, it feels somewhat inappropriate since people are fighting for their lives all around them. Before they can process what just happened, Max calls them back to help with the critical patients.
A Desperate Operation and a Race Against Time
They realize that something inside Josie’s body is causing her condition. Her shark bite appears clean, with no signs of infection, but she is still in severe pain. Without power, they can’t do a CT scan to see what’s wrong, so their only option is surgery.
It’s a risky move, but it’s the only chance she has to survive. Before the operation, Josie asks Brodie if he will marry her when this is all over. She has no idea that Brodie has spent the entire episode telling Avery that if he has to choose between saving himself or Josie, he wants them to let him die to save her.
During the surgery, Max finds something behind Josie’s spleen, but there isn’t enough light to see properly. At the same time, down in the engine room, Jay and Rosie are desperately trying to get the power back online.
The situation has become even more urgent because strong winds are pushing the ship toward a reef. If they don’t fix the power soon, the ship could crash.
Just in time, Jay and Rosie manage to restore power, allowing Max to finish the surgery. He removes a shark tooth from Josie’s chest cavity, which was causing all of her problems. With the power back, they face one last challenge—getting rid of the orcas. Captain Massey successfully scares them away with fireworks, finally bringing an end to the chaos.
A Bittersweet Ending
Once Josie wakes up, Captain Massey marries her and Brodie right there in the medical bay. The ceremony is short and sweet, with some of the usual wedding vows removed. It is a touching moment, and the camera focuses on the reactions of Max, Avery, and Tristan. The love triangle between them is still unresolved, but it is clear that things have changed.
As the episode comes to an end, Jay receives an application to officially join the Odyssey crew. After a difficult start, he has become an important part of the team, and it makes sense for him to return. Meanwhile, Spencer is sent to shore to recover.

However, Max, Avery, and Tristan are now completely out of sync. They aren’t even standing together when saying goodbye to the departing crew members. Max is focused on Brooke, while Tristan secures a real date with Avery. Even when Captain Massey announces next week’s adventure, the three of them remain divided.
If the show plans to make Avery and Tristan an official couple, it will be interesting to see how they handle it. Tristan has always been loyal to Avery, and it would be unfortunate if she is only using him to get back at Max.
The misunderstanding between all three of them continues to grow, and it will be exciting to see what happens next—especially with a big crossover episode coming up.
