Moreover, the metaverse/Web3 territory is a virgin market where every major brand and outlet is either dipping their toes or plunging in. What can Disney make out of this? Only time will tell, but as this new space comes along, so will new tendencies that brands will try to explore.
Disney Goes Into The Metaverse
Disney decided to hire Mark Rozon. Rozon worked at Apple as director of games at the Apple Arcade to head the company’s metaverse duties. The former Apple executive worked at the Cupertino tech company for over a decade after moving to the magic world of Disney. Now Rozon has the huge task of putting the Magic Kingdom in the Web3 space.
Mark Rozon and his new office of Next Generation Storytelling Creative Experiences will lead Disney into the Metaverse. This comes after Disney made a few shy attempts at going into the crypto space with a couple of NFT drops last year. Moreover, Rozon will be at the helm of a multidisciplinary crew to incubate ideas. What will these ideas be? Well, we’re going to have to wait and see.
Next Generation Storytelling
Rozon’s office will coordinate and consolidate Disney’s gigantic presence in a relatively virgin territory called the metaverse. Additionally, this presentation will include virtual, digital, and physical ways of telling the magical world of Disney in creative and innovative ways. So, you must think of this new gig for Rozon as a blank canvas for him and his crew to develop ideas for the company to make a big bank.
And the big bank is just exactly what Disney needs at a moment when its stock price dropped after the myriad of controversies that the company faces. Arising from the problems arising from their corporate decisions to put questionable content in their new products, a move that made many shareholders dump their stock and the Florida government revoke their special privileges in Orlando.
Much More Than NFTs
After partnering with VeVe digital collectibles to create a vast Disney+ NFT collection to celebrate the first Disney+ day, the “Golden Moments” collection was a massive hit. Now, as the company goes full-steam ahead into Disney+ day. So, it won’t be a surprise that for the second year, we will be seeing more of Disney’s digital presence in the Web3 space with Rozon’s and his crew’s fingerprints all over it.
So, from digital aspects to the physical. Plus the park’s presence, the way in which Disney will tell stories for its content will change. The world changed with the advent of the Web3/Metaverse. Brands like Nike, Adidas, influencers like the Kardashians, musicians like Kanye West, sports brands like the NBA, and athletes like Kevin Durand are all in the web3 thing. And it’s not just the Bored Ape thing. It will be much more.
