Indie action RPG Dinoblade has enjoyed a successful launch on Steam, selling more than 36,000 copies within its first 24 hours. Developed by Team Spino, the game has quickly gained traction thanks to its unusual premise that lets players control a sword-wielding Spinosaurus in a prehistoric fantasy world.
The title is the debut project of Jean Nguyen, founder of Team Spino and a senior gameplay animator at Sucker Punch Productions, the studio behind the acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima series. Following the game’s release, Nguyen thanked the community for supporting the project from its early development stages through launch.
Strong Steam debut fueled by community support
In a post shared on X, Nguyen described the experience of watching the game’s early success as an emotional journey after years of development. Team Spino also celebrated the launch on the game’s official Steam page, writing,
“The wait is officially over, Dinoblade is live and available to play right now!”
The studio added,
“Thank you so much to everyone who wishlisted, played the demo, shared feedback, and supported the project. This game wouldn’t be here without you all pushing me to make this game.”
Before launch, Team Spino revealed that Dinoblade had surpassed 500,000 wishlists, giving the game strong momentum ahead of release.

According to SteamDB, the game reached a peak of 2,204 concurrent players on launch day and continues to attract active players. It has also ranked among Steam’s top titles for wishlist activity, reflecting continued interest from potential buyers.
To encourage new players, Team Spino is offering a 10% launch discount during the game’s first week on Steam, reducing the price to $17.99 until July 30. The developer has also encouraged players to leave Steam reviews, noting that user feedback plays a major role in helping indie games reach a wider audience.
With strong day-one sales, a sizeable wishlist base, and positive community engagement, Dinoblade has delivered one of the year’s most promising indie game launches.
