Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially announced that Once Upon A KATAMARI will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 8, 2026, bringing the beloved rolling adventure to Nintendo’s latest console with several exclusive enhancements. Alongside the new platform release, players across all systems will also be able to purchase the Rolling LIVE Highlights DLC, which introduces content inspired by the mobile title Katamari Damacy Rolling LIVE.
The announcement expands the game’s platform lineup after its launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and the original Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch 2 version aims to deliver a smoother and more immersive experience through improved visuals, higher frame rates, and new mouse control functionality unique to the console.
Nintendo Switch 2 version adds new controls and performance upgrades
One of the biggest additions arriving with the Nintendo Switch 2 edition is support for exclusive mouse controls, offering players a new way to roll their ever-growing Katamari. Bandai Namco also confirmed that the game benefits from enhanced graphics and smoother frame rates compared to the original Switch release.
Current Nintendo Switch owners won’t have to start over if they upgrade. Players can transfer their existing save data to the Nintendo Switch 2 version, provided there isn’t already save data stored on the new system.
Bandai Namco showcased the upgraded version through a new announcement trailer, highlighting the visual improvements and updated gameplay features coming to Nintendo’s latest hardware.
Rolling LIVE Highlights DLC brings quests, music, and new cousins

Launching alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 version, the Rolling LIVE Highlights DLC introduces 10 new quests based on Katamari Damacy Rolling LIVE, the mobile entry centered around livestreaming culture.
Players will roll alongside Earth’s streamers, meet new cousins, and help the King of All Cosmos gain popularity by completing livestream-inspired challenges. The DLC also includes music from the mobile game, giving longtime Katamari fans additional tracks to enjoy while expanding their Katamari.
The expansion will be available as a separate purchase across all platforms, not just Nintendo Switch 2.
Time-travel adventure returns with classic Katamari charm
In Once Upon A KATAMARI, players once again control The Prince, rolling a Katamari through different eras of history to restore the stars after another mishap caused by the King of All Cosmos. Stages span locations including the Jurassic Period, the Ice Age, and historic Japan, blending the franchise’s signature humor with imaginative environments.
The game also features customizable cousins, collectible power-ups like a magnet that attracts nearby objects, a fresh soundtrack alongside returning favorites, and Katamari Ball, a competitive multiplayer mode.
The Nintendo Switch 2 release and its accompanying DLC continue Bandai Namco’s support for the long-running franchise while offering both returning and new players more ways to experience its uniquely chaotic gameplay.
