The First Descendant Season 4 is preparing one of its biggest content expansions yet, with developer Nexon revealing 11 new Transcendent Weapons and a new roguelike-inspired activity called Trials. The upcoming update will introduce powerful new equipment designed around different Descendant playstyles while adding a repeatable challenge mode that changes with every run.

In its latest Dev Note, Nexon confirmed that Season 4 will feature four enhanced versions of existing Ultimate Weapons and seven completely new Transcendent Weapons. The developer also teased additional details during a planned Dev Live presentation on August 18, where more information about the season will be shared.

The new content aims to expand build variety by giving both firearm-focused and skill-focused Descendants specialized weapons with unique effects, damage mechanics, and combat strategies.

Season 4 Introduces 11 New Transcendent Weapons

Among the upgraded weapons arriving in Season 4 is Malicious Dominator, an enhanced version of Malevolent. This Hand Cannon creates a “Blade of Malice” after hitting enemies, allowing the attack to bounce between targets. Weak Point hits apply the “Encroachment of Evil” effect, while enemy defeats can trigger “Malicious Explosion” with poison damage.

The Storm Cage Submachine Gun, upgraded from Thunder Cage, adds new electrical effects. It can activate “Electric Shockwave” after hitting enemies, trigger “Lightning Burst” through critical hits, and create a powerful “Lightning Storm” after defeating opponents.

Sniper Rifle users will receive Raging Light, an enhanced version of Piercing Light. The weapon creates a “Brand of Light” while aiming, allowing attacks to spread damage across multiple enemies through its Scattering effect.

Another upgraded Ultimate Weapon is Emperor’s Guard Lance, an enhanced Beam Rifle based on King’s Guard Lance. It deploys a special lance while aiming and can activate “Emperor’s Majesty” and “Emperor’s Judgment” attacks after meeting specific combat conditions.

New Weapons Expand Descendant-Specific Builds

Season 4 will also introduce several completely new Transcendent Weapons designed around specific combat roles.

The Assault Rifle Armis uses interceptor missiles and rocket attacks, applying the “Missile Fragment” effect that creates ricochet damage against nearby enemies. Meanwhile, the Shotgun Unleashed Instinct increases fire rate based on reload modifiers and introduces “Excessive Bleeding” effects that trigger explosions when affected enemies are defeated.

For skill-focused Descendants, Nexon is adding weapons that enhance elemental abilities. Sparky increases Electric Skill Amplification, while Frost Flower boosts Chill abilities through the “Frost Seed” effect. Volcanic Heart improves Fire skills by applying “Pulsating Ember,” and Nightmare Launcher enhances Toxic abilities with the “Purple Nightmare” effect.

The ATR-0 Prototype Tactical Rifle focuses on Non-Attribute skills, allowing players to build “Arche Energy Bullet” stacks for additional damage effects.

Trials Adds Roguelike Challenges to Season 4

Beyond new weapons, Season 4 will introduce Trials, a new mode built around roguelike mechanics. Each attempt will offer a different experience as players progress through randomly generated routes created through teleportation systems.

Players will use the Variable Code selection system to choose buffs and develop their builds during each run. The deck-building style mechanic encourages players to combine different upgrades and create stronger synergies as difficulty increases.

Trials will also feature the Cracked Fissure event, an optional combat challenge where players can earn various rewards. The mode is designed to become increasingly difficult with repeated runs, giving experienced players a new endgame challenge.

Season 4 will also introduce new Commanders, including Antithese, a fast tracker-type enemy that uses leaps and binds to force close-range battles, and Vorax, a slower but dangerous Commander whose attacks leave Identification Code marks that increase future damage.

Nexon will reveal more information about The First Descendant Season 4 during its Dev Live event on August 18 before the update launches.
