How far can someone go to get into a desired character for a movie/drama? Some actors may undertake extensive research, adopt behavioral and physical traits, and even live in the desired character’s life to some extent in order to deliver a more authentic and nuanced performance. However, in a bizarre turn of events, Damson Idris, the star of the acclaimed series “Snowfall” broke all the limits when he invoked the DEVIL. Yes, you read it absolutely right, Damson Idris to get into the character of Franklin Saint did the unbelievable.
In a recent interview, The British actor disclosed that he had metamorphically tapped into the dark depth of his character by invoking the devil, surprising his fellow actors sitting in the interview panel, Jeff Bridges, Kieran Calkin, Evan Peters, and Pedro Pascal.
Damson Idris states that during his final season, he encountered a creative block and began doubting his performance. He recalls himself retreating to a corner, staring at a wall, and in a moment of desperation he began calling upon the devil. He sought to tap into something intense and extreme, something that pushed him beyond his limits. This experience was harrowing, Idris recalls, leading to a month of haunting nightmares. This negative energy consumed Idris and pushed him to resort to prayer and other methods to purge himself. Idris even reached out to his mother for support, seeking solace. Idris shares, “That stuff is real, that stuff is really real.”

In a candid revelation, Damson Idris revealed that he used to keep a small flask behind the scenes hidden from the view of others. At times he would touch his lips just to have a taste and evoke a connection to Franklin’s struggle with alcoholism. The actor also shared that he didn’t bathe for days just to get into the character of Franklin’s final scenes, luckily not disrupting others with bad odors, Idris admits.
