Yuki Tsukumo is one of the special grade Jujutsu sorcerors whose powers and domain are currently unknown. She is pretty mysterious and was introduced to fans as Todo’s teacher. Remember how Todo asks everyone who their ideal type is? That is major because of Yuki, as Yuki’s first question to him was that as well! She is light-haired and seems pretty chill. Jujutsu Kaisen is a 2021 anime that got crazy famous because of its glorious graphics, amazing plot, complex characters, and the adventure buzz that otakus love! Gojo is one of the most famous characters, as Geto Suguru and Toji Fushiguro slowly come into the limelight along with Yuki Tsukumo.
Everyone in the academy thinks of her as a sorcerer who spends all her time going around the world, not doing much. However, Yuki has a different perspective because she works hard in her own way, and just like Gojo, she has a different perspective than the elders in Jujutsu Kaisen. Instead of exorcising curses one by one, she wants to exorcise curses once and for all. This sounds as if that would need some genocidal plan like Madara or Eren’s because till humans are living on earth, it is impossible for them not to feel negative emotions that produce curses.
What is Yuki Tsukumo like?
Yuki’s surname is Tsukumo, which means “ninety-nine,” but her first name is yu 由, which means “reason, cause,” and ki 基 which means “base, foundation.” Yuki has the tendency of asking males she meets what kind of girls they like, something that her pupil Todo has picked up on. She didn’t go to Jujutsu High to see Geto throughout Gojo’s Past Arc, but instead just met Gojo. Her compensation does not stop because she is special grade, despite her refusals and frequent travel. She met Todo by happenstance while he was in the third grade of primary school. Todo was scarred by one of her harsh training sessions.
While her present talents are unclear, her status as a special grade sorcerer indicates that she is capable of exorcising special grade cursed spirits. Aoi Todo, a powerful first-grade shaman, was her student as well. She knows how to use the Simple Domain technique, and she taught it to her student, Aoi Todo. By easily blocking Uraume’s Ice Fall technique, she was managed to save the rest. However, she can’t be one of the special grade sorcerors if she only has a domain. This suggests she most likely possesses a set of powers that are still unknown.
Appearance & Likes
Yuki has thin brows and beautiful light-colored hair that reaches past her neck. She has a slim build and a tall figure. Yuki wore a dark-colored long-sleeved coat over a sleeveless dark-colored blouse, light-colored slacks, and light-colored heeled boots when she met Geto. Yuki was dressed in racing goggles, a bomber jacket, and dark-colored leggings when he encountered Aoi. According to Jujutsu Kaisen’s Official Fanbook, her special skill is riding a motorcycle, she loves to eat chicken burritos dislikes seaweed. She is pretty amazing, being the cool teacher who travels around the world, but Yuki often finds it exhausting because of the endless number of missions.
Yuki has a laid-back, lazy, and pretty upbeat demeanor. She does have an image amongst her colleagues as a slacker sorceress who never accepts any assignments and instead travels the globe. Yuki has a different perspective and doesn’t really like Jujutsu High’s philosophy about exorcising curses one at a time. Her perspective and opinion are to find a way to completely eliminate curses rather than just exorcising them one at a time, whenever they emerge. When presented with awful ideas like mass murder, Yuki usually maintains calm, focusing on the practicality rather than the morality underlying them. She’s usually stressed and worried about her missions.
It’s unclear how much of Todo’s overall intelligence and maturity can be attributed to his relationship with Yuki, but his dedicated work ethic, combat prowess, and complete understanding of cursed energy manipulation and his technique definitely can. Another thing that’s interesting to think about is if Todo’s rough, hands-off teaching approach that he used to force a Black Flash out of Yuji is actually how Yuki was when training him.
Fan Theories about Yuki Tsukumo’s name
Her surname and the fact that she has domesticated a Cursed Spirit are all the viewers know about her. Both of these items are major hints as to what her Cursed Technique is. (yu)(ki) is her given name, and it means “reason/cause” and “basis/foundation,” respectively. With a little Olympic mental gymnastics, this may be interpreted as “99 basic causes” or “99 issues.” “Yuki” is also a homophone of the Japanese word (Yuki), meaning “snow.” She also inquires about everyone’s favorite type of woman. Perhaps the purpose of this question is to highlight this truth and remind people, if only for a small period, of the luxuries in life. Todo is a physical representation of this thought process.
Tsukumo is her surname, which means “ninety-nine” or, more loosely, “many” or “long time.” Tsukumogami (meaning tool spirits) are household tools and objects that existed for another 100 years, they would metamorphose into spirits, according to folklore. Occasionally, despite being thrown away or replaced, the things would become enraged and develop into yokai by some other method a year early (99). The reason to go to the technical college is to see Gojo, not Geto. She hasn’t been dismissed from the technical college even though she has been traveling abroad because her salary payments were frozen even though she’s a special grade.
What is the Cursed Technique of Yuki Tsukumo?
Yuki mentions “comrades” who’ve been assigned to protect and escort Todo, Mai, and Mina in chapters 136 and 138, but we have never learned anything else about these individuals or learned anything at all about their relationship with Yuki. They might be like-minded impartial Curse Users. Yuki Tsukumo’s technique appears to be that of transforming non-living objects into alive Curse Spirits, or Tsukumogami. Given how comparable their powers are, this incredibly practical skill sounds respectable enough to battle with at minimum the likes of Geto, making her job as Special Grade still realistic. So maybe these “comrades” are really ordinary objects that she has transformed into Cursed Spirits.
When she meets Todo, we get to see a spirit around her made of bones. We can assume that she might just have a cursed spirit like Yuta has Rika. While most portrayals of Tsukumogami are childish and unsophisticated, with faces and limbs grafted onto odd items, there is a high chance that Gege has his own bizarre take on the notion Tsukumo’s tamed Cursed Spirit, made an initial appearance in a human spinal column combined with a humorous instrument. There was a part when Uraume’s attack was blocked by Yuki with ease. The ice melted down rapidly, and this depicts that she’s quite strong! She taught Todo the simple domain, so it’s confirmed that she can form domains.
Yuki is a talented yet quite mysterious sorcerer who is one of the only four special grades sorcerers. Her powers are unknown, but till now, we have gathered that she can form domains, she has her own curse, whom she often calls comrades, signifying that there could be more of them. Since she always asks about people’s types, hence leading to many fan theories about her actual cursed technique being memory manipulation. She has a pretty cool personality, who calls herself a humble beauty who wants to eradicate cursed spirits from the world. When Todo sees her for the first time, his impression was that he wouldn’t be bored for too long, and his life was about to turn really interesting!
What are Yuki’s goals? (Spoilers ahead)
Yuki Tsukumo leads a solitary existence away from Jujutsu High as well as the higher-ups, abandoning all of her obligations and failing to complete assignments. Yuki Tsukumo, on the other hand, appears to tour the world, seeing everything there is to see and gaining the information she needs to complete her life’s work. Yuki is far from egocentric, despite appearing disinterested in the intricacies of Jujutsu society. In reality, her life’s mission, to which she has devoted all of her time, entails maximizing the world’s possibilities and completely eradicating the fear and anguish of curses. Yuki Tsukumo disagrees with the Jujutsu higher-ups because she believes their approach is ineffective.
Yuki sees this as essentially applying a band-aid to a much greater injury, never fully resolving the issue at its source and hence never promoting change. Curses persist in cruelly murdering individuals, including trained jujutsu sorcerers, and despite the many curses the sorcerers manage to remove, there is no conclusion to the curses which form to make their mark, according to the world’s dreary environment. Yuki’s studies, on the other hand, revealed that jujutsu sorcerers do not manufacture curses through hostility when using correct curse energy management.
Kenjaku and Yuki are two complementary during the Shibuya disaster. Despite their diametrically opposed goals, two individuals aim to maximize the world’s possibilities. Yuki has dedicated herself to the utilitarian strategy of destroying cursed energy in its totality after much consideration and thorough rejection of Geto’s solution to the problem of eliminating all non-sorcerers. While Kenjaku aspires to develop the world through turmoil and sorcery, Yuki feels that the most helpful thing for the world is to shift away from tainted energy in general and enable the world to flourish without sorcerers.
It’s what sets Yuki apart not only from the various special grade sorcerers in the anime but also from almost every character. Yuki’s ambitions and endeavors are on a superior stage than most, and our protagonists’ everyday troubles are insignificant in Yuki’s larger strategy. Yuji vs. Mahito, Megumi’s mission to save Tsumiki, and even Maki’s leveling of the Zenin clan have all shaped the nation’s terrain. All of these are minor issues in comparison to what Yuki wishes to do for the globe. What’s really fascinating is what may be deduced about Yuki’s rated power. Yuki’s confidence is demonstrated by his ability to tour a state, and the world in general, without allies or support.
Yuki was indeed brave enough to ask Yuji if they could just kill Kenjaku right now, even though he was starting to irritate her. People, this is the major villain of the series. Another Curse Manipulation sorcerer could be on the loose. It would adequately describe her link with the afflicted spirit we’ve seen her with, as well as why she was given the Special grade. While it is, obviously, a far-fetched hypothesis, one thing is certain: whatever her abilities are, they must be harmful to society and the world.
They would’ve been able to generate nation-ending calamities without any assistance because they outrank formidable grade 1 sorcerers. Gojo could take down the entire populace of jujutsu sorcery if left unchecked. Geto, during the twilight of a hundred evil spirits, was capable of causing full-on war throughout two separate urban centers, and Yuta and Rika could devastate the entire civilization of jujutsu sorcery if left unchecked.
This, added to the fact that Yuki was possibly the very first special grade to be named, contributes to the intensity with which this woman enters a room. Sorcerers gain strength through self-affirmation, individualism, and the fulfillment of selfish goals or ambitions, as we’ve learned. They usually have a fascinating personality to go along with it.
Yuki Tsukumo is all of these things and more. Yuki Tsukumo is a very powerful person, who is even capable of causing a rift between Tengen and her true objective of finally getting rid of cursed spirits self-centered, her endeavor of that goal notwithstanding her responsibilities to the high school, and her dedication to the expulsion of cursed energy in exchange for the better world she imagines.
