Crunchyroll has officially announced its next wave of Blu-ray releases, with several fan-favorite anime arriving on physical media this October. Among the biggest highlights are The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4 and the hit Chinese donghua Lord of Mysteries, two of the platform’s most talked-about releases over the past year.

The announcement, published by Crunchyroll News on July 15, 2026, confirms that both series will soon be available on Blu-ray, giving collectors and longtime fans a chance to add them to their home libraries after their successful streaming runs.

A Familiar Hero Returns to Blu-ray

Since its debut in 2019, The Rising of the Shield Hero has remained one of Crunchyroll’s biggest isekai franchises. The series follows Naofumi Iwatani, an ordinary college student who is summoned to another world as the Shield Hero. After being falsely accused and abandoned by those around him, Naofumi gradually rises from an outcast to one of the Four Cardinal Heroes responsible for protecting the kingdom from the destructive Waves.

The latest season also reunited much of the creative team behind the anime. Hitoshi Haga returned as director at Kinema Citrus, while Keigo Koyanagi once again handled the series composition. Character designs were led by Franziska van Wulfen, Sana Komatsu, and Masahiro Suwa, with Kevin Penkin returning to compose the soundtrack alongside Alfredo Sirica and Natalie Jeffreys.

For collectors, the Blu-ray announcement is welcome news. Previous home video releases for The Rising of the Shield Hero have remained popular among fans who prefer owning physical copies, and Season 4 is expected to attract similar interest.

Lord of Mysteries Continues Its Rise

The addition of Lord of Mysteries to Crunchyroll’s October Blu-ray lineup is one of the biggest surprises in the announcement. The Chinese donghua quickly built a dedicated global fanbase. Based on Cuttlefish That Loves Diving’s acclaimed web novel, the story follows Klein Moretti, who awakens in a Victorian-inspired world filled with secret organizations, supernatural powers, and ancient gods.

Produced by B.CMAY Pictures, the first season ran for 13 episodes before returning in June 2026 with the three-episode Lord of Mysteries Special: Prey, which adapted story arcs skipped during the original television run. The additional episodes helped maintain interest in the series while expanding its world and characters.

The series has continued gaining momentum among anime and donghua fans, with many praising its detailed world-building and mystery-driven storytelling. With Season 2 expected to arrive in 2027, the upcoming Blu-ray release gives collectors a chance to own the first chapter of the story while keeping excitement high during the wait for its return.
