Nexon has announced that it is resetting the finals voting for The First Descendant’s 2026 Skin Contest after discovering that some finalist submissions appeared to have used generative AI, violating the contest’s intended standards. The developer apologized to players for failing to identify the entries during the finalist selection process and confirmed that affected submissions have been removed from the competition.

The announcement, published on The First Descendant’s official website, states that all previous votes have been erased to ensure a fair outcome. As a result, players who had already voted will need to cast their votes again during the new voting period.

Nexon removes AI-generated entries and restarts the finals

According to Nexon, the entries identified as using generative AI will no longer be eligible to receive votes or finalist rewards.

The developer said:

“We sincerely apologize for the confusion caused to Descendants due to our failure to review the entries thoroughly during the finalist selection process.”

To restore fairness, Nexon has scheduled a new finals voting period running from July 7, 2026, at 3:00 a.m. PDT through July 21, 2026, at 12:00 a.m. PDT. The final voting page was temporarily taken offline before reopening for the restart.

Players with Mastery Rank 10 or higher can participate, with each account receiving one vote per category for a maximum of two votes across the Descendant and Vehicle categories.

Nexon also confirmed that any additional problematic entries discovered during the re-voting period will be removed immediately and have their votes invalidated.

After voting concludes, the company plans to conduct a more thorough review of the original files submitted by both finalists and winners before announcing the final results.

The developer concluded by stating that it will “do our best to provide a fairer environment,” reinforcing its commitment to maintaining the integrity of future community contests.
