Cristin Milioti is joining the cast of Season 2 of “Hit-Monkey,” an adult animated series on Hulu. The new season follows Monkey and the ghost of American assassin Bryce as they travel from Japan to New York. Season 2 is set to premiere on Hulu on July 15.
Milioti will star as Iris. Her official character description states,
“Iris has grown up vowing never to be like the father, Bryce, who abandoned her, but when fate brings them back together, she realizes that she and her old man are cut from the same cloth as they hurtle towards a final reconciliation.”
Cristin Milioti’s role in “Hit-Monkey” Season 2 marks her second recent comic book role, following her casting in the upcoming Max DC series “Penguin” as Sofia Falcone.
Milioti is recognized for her work in various projects such as the “USS Callister” episode of “Black Mirror,” Season 2 of “Fargo,” the Max series “Made for Love,” and the Peacock series “The Resort.” She has also appeared in films like “Palm Springs” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.” Milioti is represented by UTA and The Lede Company.
Additionally, the voice cast of “Hit-Monkey” Season 2 includes Leslie Jones, Ally Maki, and Olivia Munn.
The series, created by Josh Gordon and Will Speck, is produced by 20th Television Animation, with animation provided by Floyd County Productions.
It’s interesting to see how the plans for the Marvel adult animated shows evolved. Originally, “Hit-Monkey” was part of a lineup that included “MODOK,” “Tigra & Dazzler,” and “Howard the Duck,” with the intention of eventually crossing them over in an event series called “The Offenders.”
However, only “Hit-Monkey” and “MODOK” ended up making it to air, and “MODOK” was canceled after just one season.
It’s a reminder of how complex and dynamic the landscape of television production can be, especially in the realm of comic book adaptations.
