Pearl Abyss’ highly anticipated open-world action game Crimson Desert has won the Best International Game Award at the China Game Innovation Awards (CGIA) 2026. The award was presented during ChinaJoy 2026, one of China’s largest gaming events, recognizing the game’s ambitious design, technology, and creative achievements.
The CGIA is organized by the Chinese gaming platform TapTap alongside the China Audio-video and Digital Publishing Association. The annual awards celebrate games that demonstrate innovation in gameplay, technical development, and visual artistry.
Crimson Desert Earns Recognition for Gameplay and Technology
The Best International Game Award honors overseas titles that introduce major advancements in gameplay mechanics, technical features, and artistic presentation. Crimson Desert’s latest achievement follows its previous recognition at the Develop:Star Awards, where it received the Technical Innovation award.
Pearl Abyss has also been preparing the game for Chinese players by increasing its presence at local gaming events. The studio showcased Crimson Desert at Bilibili World and ChinaJoy, while adding Chinese voiceovers and subtitles to improve accessibility for regional audiences.

Chinese gaming outlet GamerSky, which is featured on Metacritic, praised the game’s large-scale world and variety of content, stating that
“the richness of the content in Crimson Desert is so incredible that it is hard to believe it is a real game.”
During ChinaJoy 2026, Pearl Abyss partnered with TCL to demonstrate Crimson Desert’s combat mechanics and open-world features at the company’s booth. The developer also hosted events with local media and industry partners to strengthen its connection with Chinese players.
With continued awards and international showcases, Crimson Desert remains one of the most closely watched upcoming titles from Pearl Abyss.
