CD Projekt Red has revealed new technical details for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2, confirming that the upgraded RPG will target 720p in handheld mode and 1080p when docked. The game is also expected to run at 30 to 40 FPS in both modes, with players using 120Hz-compatible displays potentially seeing performance closer to 40 FPS more consistently.
The details were shared during a recent CD Projekt Red livestream and reported by Nintendo Everything. The remastered version launches on September 29, 2026.
Mouse Controls, Mods, and a Possible Physical Release
The Switch 2 version will support several control methods, including mouse controls, gyro controls, touchscreen support, and dual-grip play. Players will also be able to adjust options such as gyro sensitivity, camera stabilization, and inverted controls.
Mods will also be supported on Switch 2, although some may be restricted by Nintendo guidelines or technical limitations. CD Projekt Red indicated that most mods should still be available, while options such as 8K texture packs may not be supported.
A physical release has also been teased, although CD Projekt Red did not announce any details. When asked about it, the developer simply said, “The news will come when the time is right.”
The official The Witcher website confirms that the remastered edition will bring major visual, gameplay, and performance improvements, while Nintendo also lists the game for a September 29, 2026 release. Existing owners of The Witcher 3 on the original Nintendo Switch will be able to claim the Switch 2 remastered version for free.
