Crimson Desert has received one of its biggest post-launch updates yet, with Patch 1.16 introducing a complete overhaul of the game’s trading mechanics alongside extensive gameplay improvements and bug fixes. Released on August 1, the update is followed by two hotfixes—Patch 1.16.03 on August 4 and Patch 1.16.04 on August 5—that resolve equipment-related issues discovered after the main patch went live.

The highlight of the update is a significantly expanded trading system designed to make commerce more rewarding and dynamic. In addition to economy changes, Pearl Abyss has addressed quest progression problems, combat bugs, stability issues, graphics improvements, and numerous quality-of-life features that affect nearly every aspect of the game.

According to the official patch notes published by Pearl Abyss, Update 1.16 is focused on improving long-term progression while refining the gameplay experience.

Trading receives the biggest expansion since launch

The centerpiece of Update 1.16 is the game’s expanded trade network. Pearl Abyss has added 133 new trading posts, including a merchant at the Pailune Trading Post, giving players more opportunities to buy, transport, and sell goods across the world.

Trading itself has become more strategic. Prices now fluctuate depending on how many goods are sold at a specific location, encouraging players to explore less-traveled routes for greater profits. Royal Trading Posts have also become considerably more valuable, with trade goods now selling for four times their previous value, while overall trading profits have been increased.

The update also introduces 24 new high-value trade goods and four additional standard trade items. Players can now stack packaged goods more efficiently, move merchandise between horses and wagons, and even sell individual trade goods instead of entire shipments.

To support the new economy, seven wagon workshops have been added across Pywel. These locations function as intermediate trading hubs where players can package and load goods before continuing their journeys.

Pearl Abyss has also streamlined trading management with several new interface features. A dedicated Trade tab has been added to the world map, allowing players to locate trading posts, wagon workshops, and royal trading posts more easily.

The updated map now displays wagon routes, average purchase prices, available goods, and merchants participating in special trade events. Players can also filter locations by item type, making it easier to plan profitable trade runs across the continent.

Outside of trading, the update introduces new banking features, including Bond Shops, investment mechanics, and Claim Bank Strongbox, giving players additional ways to manage their in-game wealth.

Hundreds of fixes improve quests, combat, and performance

Beyond its economy overhaul, Patch 1.16 includes an extensive list of gameplay fixes covering quests, controls, combat, graphics, localization, and stability.

Several quests that previously became blocked—including “Assassinate Count Byron,” “Lawless Market,” and “Where Misery Gathers”—have been corrected, while challenge tracking issues affecting multiple achievements have also been resolved.

Combat has received numerous refinements, including smoother combo transitions, improved ranged weapon handling, and fixes for enemy behavior, elemental skills, and character-specific abilities. On PC, the update also implements AMD FSR SDK 2.3.0, adds FSR Upscaling 4.1 support for Radeon RX 7000 Series GPUs, updates ray regeneration technology, and reduces visual flickering in several areas.

The two follow-up hotfixes released on August 4 and August 5 address equipment-related problems, including disappearing shields after switching weapon sets and inventory inconsistencies that could occur after saving and reloading the game.

Players looking for the complete list of changes can find the full patch notes on the official Crimson Desert Steam Community page and the game’s official news channels.
