Pearl Abyss has confirmed that Crimson Desert will attend Gamescom 2026 with an expanded showcase, giving attendees another chance to experience the acclaimed open-world action RPG while offering a behind-the-scenes look at the technology that powers its vast world.

The studio will host a dedicated booth featuring the current version of the game, live stage events, giveaways, cosplay appearances, and two in-depth developer presentations. The exhibition will take place at Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany, with visitors able to find Pearl Abyss in Hall 09.1, Stand B020–C029 from August 26 to 30.

Hands-On Gameplay Returns to the Show Floor

Visitors to the Pearl Abyss booth will be able to play Crimson Desert on Samsung’s latest 32-inch Odyssey G8 gaming monitor. Samsung says the display is the industry’s first 6K gaming monitor with Dual Mode, allowing players to switch between 6K resolution at 165Hz and 3K resolution at 330Hz depending on their preferred experience.

In addition to gameplay, the booth will feature live demonstrations, exclusive merchandise giveaways, themed photo opportunities, and character cosplayers inspired by the world of Pywel, giving fans another opportunity to celebrate the game following its release.

Alongside the public showcase, Pearl Abyss will host two technical sessions aimed at developers and game industry professionals.

The first presentation,

“How We Filled the Vast Continent of Pywel,”

will examine how the development team designed the game’s expansive world. The session will cover exploration-driven world design, automated environment production pipelines, environmental storytelling, and the techniques used to balance terrain, vegetation, and landmarks across the continent.

A second presentation,

“Scaling Open World Creation in Crimson Desert with an In-House Engine,”

will focus on the studio’s proprietary BlackSpace Engine. Developers will explain how procedural terrain generation, biome-based placement systems, and seamless world simulation helped create large-scale environments while maintaining artistic consistency and regional identity.

The sessions will be presented by Geun-tae Ahn, Senior Leader of the Art Level Division, together with Jin-hwan Kim and Jin-ho Yoon from the Game Engine Graphics Division.

By combining a playable version of Crimson Desert with technical deep dives into its development, Pearl Abyss is using Gamescom 2026 to celebrate the game’s success while giving players and developers a closer look at the tools and design philosophies behind one of its most ambitious titles.
