Dystopic, thrilling, and packed with action, Code Geass is a sci-fi anime released in 2006. The two seasons, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2, were animated by Sunrise Animation Studio while obtaining their character design from manga artist group Clamp. Set in a world where two forces, Britannia and Area 11, are at constant odds with each other, the protagonist dives into a world of pain and loss in the two seasons.
Meanwhile, four movies have also been released since Code Geass Season 2 ended. The movies depict an alternative timeline to the main anime. They were released in a three-part story, Code Geas: Initiation, Code Geass: Transgression, and Code Geass: Glorification. Meanwhile, the fourth movie, Code Geass: Lelouch of Resurrection, stands as a sequel to the previous three movies.
The following information contains spoilers for Code Geas: Lelouch of the Rebellion and Code Geas: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2.
Lelouch And His Quest To Find The Murder Of His Mother
Code Geass follows Lelouch vi Britannia, a discarded prince of the Holy Britannian Empire, and his mission to create peace after he is bestowed upon the powers of obedience after the immortal C.C saves his life. This power is called Geass, which enables others to abide by Lelouch under his word. On the other hand, several of the characters have a power called Code, which grants them immortality and eternal youth. Those with a Code and grant a person with a Geass.
Righteous Lelouch is thrown into a world of politics, violence, and twisted games, the very thing that seemingly killed his mother and caused him and his little sister, Nunnally, to be cast aside.
Driven by the pain and mystery behind his mother’s brutal murder, Lelouch gets shaped into anonymous Zero as well as the founder and the leader of the Black Knights. In Code Geas Season 2, Lelouch, who has lost the memories of his time as Zero and commander of the Black Knights, is recovered to restore his memories. He then plans to kill his father and declare himself the king. Lelouch also teams up with his old best friend and puts their differences aside.
Lelouch Vi Britannia: The Anti Hero
Once back in his old world, Lelouch swears to rise high and create a better world in the anime Code Geass. Surrounded by bloodshed and pain, Lelouch is reduced to harsh measures throughout the two seasons. He kills, orders the assassination of those who get in his way, and bombs several people out of anger. Even though out of his control, his Geass ended up killing several people and ruining the lives of several more, to the point where he executes his half-brother.
In his fight for peace, his morale falters several times, thus earning him the title of an anti-hero. Still, his love for his sister, his loyalty, and his desperation for clues about his mother’s murder has caused the Code Geass protagonist to stay in high ranking amongst fans.

Lelouch’s Dream Peace And Sacrifice
When it came to sacrifices, despite his mere age of seventeen, Lelouch understood their importance in the war. Suzaku, Lelouch’s best friend, and rival, also understood this when Lelouch is filled with hatred after he willingly takes command of the Damocles to end hate once and for all. Despite their differences, the two continued to care for each other and maintained a strong friendship.
Suzaku stabs Lelouch at the end of the Code Geas: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 and thus kills him along with the hatred he took upon. He then continues Lelouch’s dream for the Zero Requiem and takes care of Lelouch’s sister, Nunnally, while taking over the position of Zero.
Several fans speculate that only Lelouch’s stabbing was shown, but his end was not, so he might be alive. Some believe that he might have survived after he got possession of the Code. Sadly, Lelouch is officially dead. However, he can still be spotted as a side character in the movies, continuing his role as the fan-favorite anime protagonist. The two seasons of Code Geass are available on Netflix and Crunchyroll.
