But after overcoming one hardship after another, the Righteous Heavenly Alliance & Steel Blood Fortress bested him. In Chun Hajin’s final moments, he had his life ended by the secret Demon Queen, working for the Righteous Heavenly Alliance. However, Chun Hajin was given a second chance at life, to live the way he desires, as he was reincarnated into the body of Seoryang, the Third Prince of the Heavenly Demonic Diving Cult, a cult that is considered the evilest & the strongest Cult in the Murim world.

Chronicles Of The Demon Faction Chapter 9: Recap

Chapter 9 of Chronicles Of The Demon Faction starts with Chun Hajin in the “Solitary Bamboo Grove,” with a forest surrounded by bamboo trees, screaming curses towards the demon lord for all ears to hear. Unsurprisingly, it was overheard by a shadowy figure standing right behind Chun Hajin.

Ma Dongpil is his name. Soon after Chun Hajin acknowledged his existence, Ma Dongpil stated any foul language directed towards the demon lord by anyone with or without status is considered a serious offense, enough to grant someone a death sentence. By then, it was clear Ma Dongpil was part of the Heavenly Demonic Diving Cult. But Chun Hajin escaped a lot of trouble, as Ma Dongpil was gullible enough to let Chun Hajin convince him that he had misunderstood.

After this exchange, Chun Hajin realized that the Heavenly Demonic Diving Cult sees Lee Cheonsang as a ‘True God,’ a suitable depiction of the strongest martial artist. We then learn that Ma Dongpil is indeed part of the Heavenly Demonic Diving Cult, specifically the third leader in the court of elders. He was assigned to act as a personal bodyguard for the Third Prince.

Ma Dongpil showed a burning passion for his duty as a bodyguard by swearing his resolve to “Maria,” a celestial king in Buddhism. However, Chun Hajin did not want to entertain this prospect and just wanted to distance himself from Ma Dongpil and leave the Demonic Cult. Despite Chun Hajin’s best efforts, he finds no hope in escaping from where he is.

After two days of trying, Chun Hajin began to contemplate why he attempted to escape the Cult. However, he quickly realized that it would be impossible to do so right now. Chun Hajin was the world’s Assassin in his previous life, so he understands to escape from the treacherous Cult he’s in, it’s only wise to become stronger before attempting to turn you back from the strongest Murim Cult out there.

This leaves Chun Hajin with no choice but to live as the Demonic Cult’s third prince, Seoryang. Since The Heavenly Demonic Diving Cult would not take it lightly if the third prince remained inactive, making Seoryang’s hopes of getting kicked out with just a slap on the wrist far from being the ideal outcome. He understands the weight of the situation he’s in and commits to once again go down the path of Martial Arts, regardless of what the future has to offer. While Seoryang was establishing his goals alone, he was shortly interrupted by Ma Dongpil.

On the 3rd day, Seoryang starts his training. Using the Boundless technique, the same technique as he did in his previous life, to strengthen his body and soul. In his previous life, Chun Hajin reached the 4th stage of power, which was one stage below the maximum potential through this technique. But, Seoryang was surprised that he had already reached the 3rd stage of power in his new host body.

After five days of training, the changes were quite evident. Seoryang healed his internal wounds from the QI blockage and had his hair color changed to darkish brown. In addition, Seoryang also awakened a familiar ability from his previous life, Omniscient sight, which helps him heighten all five of his senses, surpassing that of any beast.

Seoryang & Ma Dongpil finish a day’s work and return to their shelter. As Ma Dongpil indicates, it’s best not to stay here for much longer, as the demonic beasts become proactive at night. The chapter then ends with a cliffhanger as Ma Dongpil sees something suspicious lurking in the darkness between the trees.

Chronicles Of The Demon Faction Chapter 10: Potential Spoilers

Chronicles of the Demon Faction chapter 9 provided a cliffhanger ending with Ma Dongpil suspecting the existence of a third entity. With the flow of narration, it is obvious to expect a fight in chapter 10, potentially making it Seoryang’s first fight. This could be a way of displaying Seoryang’s powers after 5 days of rigorous training in the ‘Solitary Bamboo Grove.’

We may also know the reason why the Demon Lord specifically chose “Solitary Bamboo Grove” as the ideal location for Seoryang to have a breath of fresh air.
