Smilegate has officially launched Season 4 of Galactic Disaster in Chaos Zero Nightmare, bringing a major content update titled “Shattered Light and Claw.” Developed by Super Creative and published by Smilegate, the latest season introduces a new story chapter, Combatants, gameplay systems, and a lineup of limited-time summer events aimed at expanding the roguelike RPG experience.
The update centers on a fresh narrative while adding meaningful gameplay improvements for both new and returning players. Alongside the debut of Combatant Hilde and Partner Eunie, Season 4 also introduces the game’s first Outfit system, allowing players to customize their favorite characters with alternate appearances, voice lines, and exclusive stories. Several quality-of-life features have also been added to simplify progression, while seasonal events offer rewards through the end of September.
Chaos Zero Nightmare Season 4 adds new story, Combatants, and gameplay features
The fourth season begins with the new story chapter, “Shattered Light and Claw,” which follows the protagonist’s investigation into a series of mysterious disappearances involving strategic assets known as Protos. During the mission, players encounter another Protos named Anis, setting the stage for the latest storyline and the introduction of the new Chaos area, Kaleidoscope Hatchery.
The new Chaos area provides players with opportunities to earn character acquisition currency, Core items, and additional growth materials through its Supply Store. These resources are designed to support character progression as players tackle increasingly challenging content.
Season 4 also introduces Hilde, an Instinct Attribute Ranger Combatant specializing in generating Homing Arrow cards that trigger additional attacks or help teammates draw more cards. Joining her is the new Partner Eunie, who increases a Combatant’s Attack while boosting the damage dealt by Extra Attacks whenever Attack cards of a matching Attribute are generated.
Another major addition is the Outfit system, which lets players unlock alternate costumes alongside unique voice lines and character-focused story content. At launch, Hilde and Tiphera are the first Combatants to receive Outfits, with Smilegate confirming that additional characters will receive cosmetic content in future updates.
To further improve progression, the update adds the Growth Guide and Build Preset systems. The Growth Guide analyzes a player’s Combatant level, Partner, Potential, and Memory Fragments to recommend the most efficient upgrade path. Meanwhile, Build Presets allow players to save preferred builds and receive card recommendations during roguelike runs, making it easier to recreate successful strategies.
Summer events bring exclusive rewards through September
Season 4 also launches several limited-time events running through September 30. The Beach Café Festival rewards players with Midsummer Night Memories, which can be exchanged for exclusive items including a Save Data background, Rei’s Outfit, Stickers, and a special summer story created specifically for the event.
Players can also participate in Following the Fox’s Footsteps, an event celebrating Hilde’s arrival that explores her daily life alongside Eunie while offering rewards such as Crystals and Prism Lenses. In addition, the Season 4 Check-in Event provides valuable character acquisition currency and progression materials simply for logging in.
Speaking about the update, Kim Joo Hyung, Head of Business at Smilegate, said:
“With Season 4, players will finally be able to meet the exciting new Combatants we first revealed at AX. In addition to the new Outfit system, which lets players experience a different side of their Combatants, we’re also introducing a variety of systems designed to make Combatant growth more convenient. We hope you’re looking forward to it.”
Chaos Zero Nightmare is available now as a free-to-play title on PC, iPhone, and Android.
