Capcom has detailed how Monster Hunter Wilds will perform on Nintendo Switch 2 ahead of its December 4, 2026 release. The specifications confirm that Nintendo’s console will receive multiple visual options in docked mode, while handheld players will have a single configuration.

Unlike PS5, Xbox Series X and other high-end versions, the Switch 2 edition will target 30fps across every available setting. Capcom also warns that the frame rate can drop during particularly demanding scenes.

According to Capcom’s official specifications, TV Mode offers two choices. Players prioritizing image quality will get a 2240 × 1260 output at 30fps, while the performance-focused setting lowers the output to 1920 × 1080 at 30fps.

The handheld version is limited to 1536 × 864, or 864p, at 30fps. This means Switch 2 players should not expect a 60fps option for Monster Hunter Wilds at launch.

Capcom also confirms that the game uses dynamic resolution and upscaling. The internal rendering resolution can change depending on system load, with upscaling applied whenever rendering falls below the selected output resolution.

The company specifically cautions that

“frame rate may drop in some high-load situations,”

meaning 30fps is a target rather than an absolute lock.

The differences become more significant when compared with the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions. Those platforms offer resolution, balanced and frame-rate modes, with supported targets reaching 40fps and 60fps, while PS5 Pro also supports ray tracing in its resolution-focused mode.

Nintendo Switch 2 does not support ray tracing for Monster Hunter Wilds. Despite the technical compromises, the port will allow players to experience Capcom’s latest hunting game on Nintendo’s current hybrid console when it launches on December 4, 2026.
