Phantom Blade Zero has surpassed 700,000 concurrent players on Steam, marking a major milestone for the Chinese-developed action RPG on launch day. Developed by Beijing-based S-Game, the game launched on October 29, 2026, for PC and PlayStation 5, attracting hundreds of thousands of players within hours of becoming available.

According to SteamDB, Phantom Blade Zero reached an all-time peak of 723,876 concurrent Steam players. The milestone follows an impressive opening that saw its player count climb past 430,000 within approximately three hours of launch. The game also quickly secured the top position on Steam’s global best-sellers chart, reflecting strong interest in the martial arts-inspired adventure.

Its rapid growth puts Phantom Blade Zero among the biggest game launches of 2026 on Steam. The figures represent concurrent PC players rather than total sales or the combined audience across PC and PlayStation 5.

Phantom Blade Zero’s Steam Player Count Climbs Beyond 700,000

Phantom Blade Zero’s launch-day performance gathered momentum soon after its release. According to a report published on October 29, the game surpassed 100,000 concurrent Steam players less than 20 minutes after unlocking. Within three hours, the figure had climbed beyond 430,000, reaching 431,541 players.

The player count continued to rise over the following hours, eventually setting an all-time Steam peak of 723,876. This puts the game ahead of several major releases in the 2026 concurrent-player rankings, including Resident Evil Requiem and Forza Horizon 6.

SteamDB’s figures also show that Phantom Blade Zero maintained hundreds of thousands of concurrent players after reaching its peak. However, these numbers reflect simultaneous players at a given time, not the total number of people who purchased or played the game.

The game’s strong player numbers follow a successful pre-launch campaign. According to estimates from analytics firm Alinea Analytics reported before release, Phantom Blade Zero had generated substantial demand across PC and PS5, with pre-orders estimated at around 850,000 copies. The game also received an 88 Metacritic score for its PC version, helping build anticipation ahead of launch.

Phantom Blade Zero draws inspiration from wuxia martial arts cinema, combining elaborate sword fights, acrobatic combat and supernatural enemies. Its cinematic presentation has been one of the major talking points in reviews, while some criticism has focused on combat difficulty. Actor and martial arts specialist Donnie Yen also served as a creative consultant on the project, helping shape its action sequences.

The game is now available digitally on Steam, the Epic Games Store and PlayStation 5. Although Steam’s concurrent-player figures provide a clear measure of its PC launch, Sony does not publicly disclose comparable live player counts for PS5. Its total audience across both platforms is therefore unknown.

With its Steam peak already above 723,000 concurrent players, Phantom Blade Zero has established itself as one of 2026’s biggest PC launches. Its performance over the coming days will show whether it can sustain this momentum beyond its initial release-day surge.
