Capcom is removing one of the most controversial monetization features in Monster Hunter Wilds. The company has confirmed that Character Edit Vouchers will eventually be discontinued, allowing players to change their hunter and Palico’s appearance as many times as they want without paying for additional vouchers.
The change is tied to the Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion, which is scheduled to launch in 2027. Importantly, the free character editing system will also be available to players who do not purchase the expansion.
Monster Hunter Wilds Character Editing Will Become Free
According to Capcom’s official announcement, the Version 2 update arriving alongside Ascendance will remove the requirement for Character Edit Vouchers entirely. Players will then be able to freely and repeatedly redesign their hunter’s appearance, with the same system applying to their Palico.
Character Edit Vouchers will stop being sold on December 3, 2026, but players who already own them can continue using them until the 2027 update. As a temporary measure, Capcom will automatically provide 10 Character Edit Vouchers and 10 Palico Edit Vouchers to players following the December update.
The decision also addresses players who previously spent money on the vouchers. Anyone who purchased eligible three-voucher packs will receive the Special Thank-You Pendant Set, containing the Heavenly Hog and Beelzeboar pendants. The reward will become available on December 3.
Capcom’s decision comes as it continues preparing Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, the game’s upcoming major expansion. Capcom has confirmed that the expansion will add new quests, locations, monsters and expanded gameplay features when it launches in 2027.
